**Job Description**:
**What You’ll Do**:
Reporting to the Director of Claims Operations, you'll be responsible for managing and coordinating the claims management activities provided by the disability analysts claims team. You will assess workflows and operating procedures to devise the most effective methods of accomplishing work to meet policy and client requirements as the team administers long term disability, rehabilitation and life benefit payments.

The core parts of your role will be to:

- Manage the department and coordinate activities to achieve operational efficiency while adhering to the strategic plan. Analyze needs and directs changes as required.
- Lead the performance management process by communicating job expectations and tracking progress and effectiveness of individual activities. This includes determining team and individual goals, offering job coaching, training, motivation and support to help employees meet objectives and quality requirements, reviewing progress, and offering feedback as required.
- Provide information to the Director of Claims Operations and the VP of GL&DC, including annual objectives, business opportunities, results, trends and competitive information.
- Communicate with members, claimants, attorneys, physicians, insurers and senior OTIP staff regarding complex or contentious claims. Informs management of claims and rehabilitation status in accordance with departmental standards.
- Collect, analyze and summarize information for GL&DC management and for reporting purposes. Prepares and presents reports pertaining to the cost effectiveness of claims and rehabilitation services for OTIP and GL&DC plans.

**Qualifications**:
**Let’s Talk About You**:

- A minimum of five years’ experience in disability claims and a minimum of two years’ experience in a management or supervisory role is considered an asset.
- General knowledge of mental health disorders and problems, common physical illnesses and disabilities, personality, functional and vocational assessment tools, cognitive behavioral approaches, and the rehabilitation process.
- Strong knowledge of insurance principles, practices and contracts, underwriting agreements, and LTD products and claims services.
- Exceptional communication skills and the demonstrated ability to deal effectively with all levels of internal and external stakeholders.
- Superior time management, project management and organizational skills to manage competing priorities.
- HIAA, ICA, FLMI, and CCRC designations are considered an asset.
- The ability to communicate in French is considered an asset.
