**Position Summary**

The Financial Analyst will be responsible for developing, interpreting and implementing financial models and accounting concepts/techniques for financial planning and control. The incumbent will need to adapt quickly to prepare the Company for the implementation of new regulations and analyze business opportunities in regulated and non-regulated fields. The Financial Analyst will be the go-to person for company leaders for budget-to-actual variance analysis and to identify cost-saving opportunities. Additional responsibilities will include regular reconciliation and analysis of major general ledger accounts and the preparation of journal entries consistent with accounting principles. The Financial Analyst will also be required to assist in the development of budget, planning, regulatory and other financial documents and reports.

**Skills/Knowledge/Experience Required**

**Skills/Abilities**:

- Intermediate written and verbal communication skills
- Advanced MS Office skills
- Advanced time management skills and the ability to manage multiple competing deadlines
- Advanced analytical skills
- Ability to approach and solve complex problems related to financial reporting

**Knowledge/Education**:

- Post secondary degree in Business or Accounting or equivalent
- Enrolment in the CPA PEP required, completion of CFE preferred
- Intermediate knowledge of accounting principles and reporting requirements (IFRS)
- Basic knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety requirements as it relates to individual, organizational, and operational requirements.

**Experience**:

- Previous experience desired in Financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis
- Industry knowledge will be considered an asset
- Experience with mergers considered an asset

**Responsibilities**
- ** Provision of Expert Advice**:Assist in the preparation of various special analyses as requested by the Manager of Finance or other members of the management team. Participate in special projects as required including ERP & CIS system testing/conversion, scorecards, KPI development and year end audit packages.
- ** Budget**:Assist with the budgeting process including data analysis and review. Review budget vs. actual costs and provide appropriate variance analyses. Assist with the preparation of the final budget package as required.
- ** Safety**: Support Corporate Occupational Health & Safety initiatives by incorporating safe work practices into daily work routine.
