**Job Description and Qualifications**
**Job Description-Site Supervisor Distribution**
Air Products Canada Ltd. manufactures and distributes industrial gases and related equipment and services to a very diverse base of customers in the manufacturing, process, healthcare, energy, and service industries.
- **Purpose**:
Reporting to the Site Manager, the Distribution Supervisor will have broad responsibilities in supporting the Site Manager as part of the local Leadership Team and supporting all aspects of the day-to-day operation of the Sarnia distribution team and equipment.
- **Nature and Scope**
The Site Supervisor is to gain an understanding of all aspects of the site’s responsibilities with a specific focus on leadership skills as a first line supervisor focused on the distribution side of the business. Distribution currently has 25-30 Air Product drivers as well as many drivers from other terminals coming to pick up product. Some specific areas of focus are leadership skills as a first line supervisor, with Inclusion and Teamwork a necessity.
- The Site Supervisor will also act as a liaison between drivers and other functions in the logistics realm.
- The individual is responsible to lead his team to handle associated distribution costs.
- The Site Supervisor will be very involved in the aspects of the day-to-day business such as: coaching and counseling employees for regulatory and policy compliance and participating in the hiring process for selecting new drivers.
- **Principal Accountabilities**:
Terminal and Administration
- Supervise regular scheduling activities & special project, and act to remedy any difficulties.
- Support of all aspects of the day-to-day operation of the distribution area.
- Ensure smooth running of the distribution activities as it relates to managing staff, equipment, delivery, etc.
- Interface with tactical planning and delivery logistics planning to ensure inventory management of the facility products.
- Support of all aspects of the day-to-day distribution activities, including the co-ordination and scheduling required to maintain vehicle maintenance compliance.
- Capture equipment data in SAP.
- Support plant operations and inventory levels daily.
- Foster teamwork and create an environment for inclusion. Develop staff in order to stay current on all training requirements.
- Identifying maintenance concerns, then developing and implementing corrective / preventative measures.
- Review and approve drivers trip expense report, and accuracy of completed paperwork.
- Approve weekly pay data before being sent to ADP for processing.
- Manage site’s helium inventory.
- Provides effective customer interface through other departments.
- Ensure compliance of international shipping regulations.
- Investigate and report all driver infractions.
**Safety**
- Ensure compliance and provide mandatory training regarding all distribution activities according to APCL procedures & policies and governmental regulations (DOT requirements, Dangerous Goods, environmental, etc ) distribution personnel.
- Ensure that every employee participate in the Air Products BSP system.
- Ensure high safety record achieved according to Safety performance, reduction of preventable vehicle accident, safety management.
- Perform driver observations to ensure compliance.
- Participate and give feedback to our local Joint Health and Safety Committee
- A strong understanding and presentation of safety meetings and material presented.
**Productivity Improvement**
- Implement Best Practices designed to produce optimal distribution of products
- Actively participate and encourage in productivity and cost reduction improvements, i.e. Team Development, KPI’s tracking, CI events
- Achieve fleet miles per gallon targets, and all other main KPI’s.
**Customer Service**
- Focus the distribution team on customer satisfaction in areas of on time delivery, purity requirements & quality service
- Interface with customer base to ensure delivery integrity and safety.
**Direct Reports**
- Reporting to this position are 25-30 drivers.
**Job Requirements**:
- College Degree or equivalent, preferred
- AZ Driver's License
- 5+ years of industry experience, preferably including supervisory experience
- Clean Driver Abstract
- Fast Express Card and TWIC card or ability to get these
- Maintain a Valid Passport
- Cross border experience a definite asset
- Demonstrated commitment to EH&S with a track record of success on Safety, Environmental and Quality
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
- A strong commitment to employee involvement, team building and diversity/inclusion.
- Ability to effectively interface with support groups
- A self-starter with proven leadership abilities
- Strong organizational skills
- Understanding of Transport Canada / DOT regulations and logistics/distribution
- Management aptitude
- Maintenance experience
- Computer literacy, MS Office platform
