Direct Support Providers support individuals with a developmental and/or physical disability, including autism, and promote active living in their home and out in the community. Independent Direct Support Providers registered with the Support Provider Database are connected with families looking for support for a family member.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Provide safe and stimulating individualized care and supervision to people with autism/a developmental disability or physical disability, as requested by the parent/guardian
- Network, facilitate inclusion and act as a positive role model
- Highly motivated attitude that seeks personal satisfaction in the success of the lives of others to live in typical community

**Requirements**:

- Demonstrated commitment and care supporting children or adults with autism, developmental or physical disabilities in a support role, and/or relevant education
- Commitment to providing quality life experiences in home and/or in the community
- First Aid/CPR is an asset.
- Dependable and reliable
- Effective communication skills
- Provide a clear current police vulnerable sector check, references, and resume
- Attend an Information Session

**Hours**:

- Variable (days, evenings, weekends, overnight, relief, summer)
- Negotiated between the support provider and the family being supported

**Rate of Pay**:

- Varies and is dependent on the needs of the person and the level of support required
- Negotiated between the support provider and the family being supported

**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time

Schedule:

- Day shift
- Evening shift
- Monday to Friday
- Night shift
- Weekends as needed

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Oshawa, ON: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

**Language**:

- English (required)
