**The Opportunity**:
Reporting to the Manager of Compensation, as Compensation Analyst you will be responsible for conducting job analysis and writing job descriptions for new and changed jobs, as well as administering job evaluation for union and part-time employee groups. You will administer and respond to compensation-related surveys, and maintain compensation-related data in the human resources information system. You will advise management, employees, and other departmental staff on compensation-related procedures, processes, and policies and support managers through job evaluation and reorganization processes.
- You are responsible for administering job evaluation systems for union and non-union groups.
- We will look to you to provide technical expertise, advice, and training to employees, management, and other departmental staff, and represent the corporation’s interests with union representatives as it relates to compensation-related matters.
- You participate on reorganization working groups to provide information, advice, context, options, and implications of proposed changes on jobs and job evaluation.
- You coordinate and maintain job and organizational data in the human resources information system.
- You assist the Manager to create and update team standard operating procedures, tools, and communications.
- You conduct and respond to surveys and lead the Region’s participation in the annual Ontario Municipal Remuneration Survey.
- Knowledge of job analysis; job description writing; job evaluation techniques, principles, and processes; labour relations and collective agreements; and human resources policies and best practices, normally acquired through a university degree in a related field, plus progressively responsible related experience.
- Knowledge and understanding of the interrelatedness of jobs across an organization and within a hierarchy, and related issues and opportunities.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to comply with policies, procedures, collective agreements, and legislation (e.g., pay equity, privacy, labour relations, employment standards, health and safety).
- Strong research, analytical, problem solving skills and attention to detail.Ability to gather, analyze, and synthesize job and job structure information, accurately describe type and level of work, and identify impacts of decisions and word choice as it relates to job evaluation and reorganizations.
- Demonstrated ability to plan and prioritize work within general timeframes and work plans.
- Effective human relations, communication, and facilitation skills.
- Background in writing clear, concise, defensible job descriptions, job evaluation rationale, website content, and correspondence.
- Ability to read, understand, and comply with collective agreements, terms of reference, and job evaluation plans.
- Solid computer skills using software such as Microsoft Office, and human resources information systems.

In addition to offering a competitive compensation package, we have a strong focus on health and wellness, including fitness facilities and family-focused benefits. The salary for this position ranges between $75,457.20 and $94,312.40 per annum (Grade 5 on the Management & Management Support wage scale).
