**Job Description**:
In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health), patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.
Reporting to the Manager, Public Health, the HerWay Home Program Coordinator is responsible for developing and administering the HerWay Home Program (HWH) including planning, organizing, budgeting, coordinating and monitoring both the daily and long term operational responsibilities of the Program. The Coordinator is responsible for ongoing formative and summative evaluation of the program in order to ensure delivery of a high quality, culturally safe service in accordance with the Island Health policies and procedures as well as the HWH principles and goals. The Coordinator, in collaboration with the HWH staff, ensures the provision of assessment, consultation, treatment and follow-up services to high risk pregnant and early parenting women and their children and ensures a child focused, women centred, family oriented approach is embedded in all Program areas. The Coordinator also acts as a resource and liaises with the Sustainability and Advisory Committee and other ad hoc committees as required. The Coordinator is responsible for developing and maintaining strong working relationships with key partners, stakeholders, local agencies and groups in the community in order to support and promote the HWH Program.
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Education, Training And Experience**:
A level of education, training and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree in a related health or human services discipline and a minimum of 7 years experience in leading related programs and services are required. A strong clinical background and experience in clinical consultation and supervision pertaining to 'at risk' women and children's issues is also required, including three to five (3-5) years' experience working with and supporting children, women and families requiring health and social services supports
**Skills And Abilities**:
- Knowledge with and experience in harm reduction, trauma and violence-informed practice.
- Thorough knowledge of a multidisciplinary team approach and the coordination of services in a complex environment and system of care.
- Strong leadership and facilitation skills with the ability to engage and motivate others as well as support the development of effective teams.
- Extensive knowledge and experience related to administering clinical supervision and consultation as it relates to quality assurance processes, professional development and disciplinary issues.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to find creative solutions to problems and to develop strategies to support quality improvement initiatives.
- Positive problem-solving skills in a dynamic union work environment.
- Strong planning, critical thinking and analytical skills.
- Ability to lead in the areas of program and community development.
- Computer proficiency in areas such as client/patient information, electronic scheduling systems and office suite software such as E-Mail.
- Valid Class 5 driver's license and vehicle with $2,000,000 liability insurance.
- Current Cardiopulmonary Respiration (CPR) certificate.
