**Job Duties**:
**Stevensville Garden Gallery Vision & Values**

The Nursery Team Lead will promote and demonstrate the organizational vision and values with both employees and guests. They will work very closely with the Nursery Supervisor and the General Manager to ensure that store goals and objectives are met. They will uphold organizational policies and procedures and approach problems safely and systematically.

**Staffing & Training**

The Nursery Team Lead will ensure that personnel attain quality training established by Stevensville Garden Gallery concerning product knowledge, service standards, sales strategies and company policies. They will support the education and onboarding of all Nursery and Greenhouse staff. They will promote a positive work environment through mentoring and participate in performance reviews and development.

**Nursery Management**

The Nursery Team Lead will not be afraid to get their hands dirty They will have to opportunity to work with the most impressive live goods in the area, grown locally and abroad.

They will provide advice to guests on horticulture and nursery department products, and possess a vast knowledge of soils, fertilizers, perennials, annuals indoor plants, tropical plants and vegetables. They will present products highlighting the positive features and suggest complimentary products to optimize sales. They will monitor the weather and ensure plant and product maintenance including watering, deadheading, fertilization, and proper ventilation to minimize shrinkage. Additionally, they will assist in ensuring adequate stock levels for marketing initiatives and inventory levels.

The Nursery Team Lead will also ensure and maintain fixtures and merchandising of displays meet with store standards. They will make sure that departments are clean, safe and accessible to customers at all times in accordance with Company Health and Safety and AODA policy. They will execute daily, weekly, monthly checklists, and assist with opening and closing of the Nursery Department and retail store as required (POS functions, sales, returns, voids).

**Customer Service Standards & Communication**

As role model, the Nursery Team Lead will promote and demonstrate the highest standard of customer service. They will liaise with other department leads, handle guest inquiries and complaints and contribute to creative solutions. Their extensive horticultural knowledge will assist them with this process.

**Qualifications**:

- Enrolled in Horticultural Technician Certificate program or have equivalent work-related experience.
- A Minimum of 2 years in team lead capacity.
- Proven success in a retail garden centre, nursery and greenhouse.
- eCommerce experiences is an asset.
- Merchandising experience is welcomed.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to excel in high-pressure situations.
- Sound organizational and leadership skills.
- Positive team player.

**Working Conditions**:

- Willingness to work both indoors and outdoors, during warm months and colder ones.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Required to wear safety boots.
- Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer.
- Available to work on weekends and during busy times of year. Prepared to maintain a flexible work schedule.
- Ability to attend and participate in meetings before and after the store closes.

**Job Types**: Part-time, Seasonal
Part-time hours: 30-35 per week

**Salary**: $16.00-$20.00 per hour
