General Labourer

Business is good; and it's just getting better Our head office, production facility and largest showroom are in Woodstock, Ontario and we have two additional showrooms in Cambridge and Stoney Creek This position will be based in Woodstock, Ontario.

We are currently looking for a General Labourer to rotate between day and afternoon shifts.

**Summary**

The General Labourer will be required to perform tasks involving physical labour at Stonex Granite & Quartz Inc.’s production facility, and will be required to operate a variety of hand and power tools and machinery. The Manufacturing General Labourer will be responsible for the efficient production of stone products according to established procedures, following all safety and workplace policies.

**Job Duties**
- Clean and prepare work area
- Monitor and maintain machines to ensure proper operation
- Perform daily inspections of equipment and machines
- Adjust and operate machines safely and efficiently to produce products to specifications
- Read drawings
- Use measuring tools, check each part before and after machining
- Load, unload, identify material and distribute to the appropriate locations according to project plans and specifications
- Operate overhead cranes, vacuum lifters
- Grind, scrape, sand or polish surfaces using abrasive tools or machines
- Work independently and as a team member
- Communicate with supervisor/team leader to ensure product meets required quality standards
- Perform all tasks in a safe, responsible and efficient manner
- Perform other duties as defined by Supervisor

**Requirements**:

- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
- 1-3 years of experience as a General Labourer in a manufacturing production environment
- Knowledge of workplace safety and safe lifting and material handling procedures
- Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner
- Effective verbal and listening communications skills
- Time management skills
- Critical eye for identifying defects
- Commitment to quality and safety
- Proactive in ensuring job knowledge is current

- Avoid unnecessary conflict
- Knowledge of appropriate materials, methods, and the tools required in various assembly processes
- Working mechanical knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
- Ability to readily determine the correct tools and equipment needed to do a job
- Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule
- Ability to lift heavy objects up to 80 lbs assisted, walk and stand for long periods of time and perform strenuous physical labor
- Valid G driver's license
- Experienced operating overhead crane and/or forklift is an asset

**Work Conditions**
- Job requires ability to work with a variety of hand and power tools
- Ability to lift and manipulate objects of up to 80 lbs for 50 feet is required
- Use of Personal Protection Equipment will be required (e.g. hard-hat, safety boots, etc.)
- Regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in conditions that include heat and humidity, and exposure to dust
- Must be able to lift, push, pull or carry objects properly to avoid injury
- Requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination
- Noise level is generally loud
- **Excellent stamina is required as job is VERY physical**
