**Schedule**:Monday to Friday**

**Reports To**:Skilled Trades Coordinator**

The **Trades Instructor - Machining **provides theoretical and practical instruction for the Machining Pre-apprenticeship program. The **Trades Instructor - Machining**, in partnership with the Assistant Instructor and program team, provides student support and preparation for immediate employment in the machining sector.

**_Customer Service Skills: _**
- Committed to student success as demonstrated by exemplary teaching practices and practicing continuous improvement
- Sharing Best Practices in teaching with other instructors
- Taking a team approach to working the Skilled Trades Department - attending all staff meetings, volunteering for additional projects when required

**_Instructional Skills: _**
- Responsible for preparing and implementing short-term and long-term lesson plans to meet Ministry curriculum expectations
- Follow adult education principles for student communication and training delivery
- Responsible for all aspects of student assessment and evaluation, including, student reporting
- Promote, teach and practice safety and orderliness on a daily basis
- Monitor and record student attendance
- Ensure that all department documentation is completed in an accurate and timely manner
- Work closely with the program team to strategize toward the common goal of student success
- Adapt instructional strategies and materials according to the individual learning needs of each student
- Ensure all shop tools and equipment are in working order; conduct basic repairs, as needed, or report problems to the Skilled Trades Coordinator

**What you need to bring to this job**:
**_Technical/Theoretical Knowledge Required: _**
- Machine and Hand tools, Threads and Fasteners
- Machine Theory, Blueprint Reading
- Computer Numerical Control / CNC
- CNC Vertical milling machine setup and operation
- CNC Lathe setup and operation
- Conventional vertical milling machine and lathe setup and operation
- Trades Math, Measurement
- Advanced troubleshooting techniques in all areas of study
- Safety Training and Safe Work Practice is a must
- Employability / Essential Skills

**_Additional Qualifications: _**
- Machinist/Millwright/Tool and Die Maker Certificate of Qualifications
- 5+ years of field experience
- Experience teaching in an adult education setting is preferred
- Demonstrated interest and experience in work with adults with barriers to employment
- Certified in First Aid and CPR considered an asset
- Strong problem solving and decision making skills
- Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, listening)
- Intermediate level of computer skills using MS Office 365 (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Willingness to travel throughout Halton and Peel regions as required
