Job Summary
The LINC/ESL Supply Instructor assists with day-to-day coverage of classes during the absence of an Instructor by assisting with the delivery of English language instruction for newcomers and immigrants to Canada following the Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) Curriculum Guidelines.
Additionally, Supply Instructors assist with both short term and long term temporary assignments; planning and preparing lessons following the CLB curriculum guidelines; obtaining and developing learning materials as required; using PBLA protocols for classroom assessment; organizing and maintaining documentation of participants' progress; maintaining clear and accurate academic and administrative student records.
Qualifications / Experience
- B.A. in related field
- OCELT designation ()
- Demonstrated knowledge of CLB Curriculum Guidelines and experience in instructing adults
- Experience in creating safe, inclusive, equitable learning environments that are free from discrimination
- Experience with Portfolio-Based Language Assessment (PBLA) is preferred
- Demonstrated experience providing instruction using a variety of online delivery tools and software
- Ability and/or willingness to teach on-line using Google Classroom
- TOEFL iBT teaching experience and/or certification is an asset
- Experience teaching ESL to adults
- Excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills and organizational skills
This position is represented by the Canadian Union of Public Employees (C.U.P.E.) Local Collective Agreement.
