Edmonton, Canada CASA Child, Adolescent and Family Mental Health Full time

**Competition #22-044**

**About the Role**
CASA is a trusted non-profit organization delivering holistic, culturally safe wrap-around mental health services to children (3-18) and their families in Alberta. We do this through a team of specialized mental health professionals who are trauma experts committed to delivering outcomes-based programming in collaboration with community partners. CASA’s vision is a community where all children, youth and their families are provided timely mental health care and empowered to thrive.

As part of a collaborative, patient-centered team, the testing psychologist will support children and adolescents by administering age appropriate assessment methods to identify a treatment process. The testing psychologist will need to manage competing demands, complete assessments in a timely manner, navigate differences in clinical opinion within multidisciplinary teams, ensure recommendations are implemented by schools and advocate for families who need support.

Registered psychologists working within the Psychological Assessment and Consultation (PAC) team support children and adolescents whose difficulties with learning, executive function or concurrent mental illness impact the progress in their treatment at CASA. PAC psychologists provide support to CASA therapists and psychiatrists seeking assistance or consultation for children and youth through formal assessment, complex case discussion or specialized educational interventions where learning or cognitive factors interrupt treatment services or functioning in the classroom. The psychologist completes various psychological, behavioural and educational assessments and consultation to support the client’s treatment process at CASA. Duties include:

- Select and administer age appropriate assessment methods and material (e.g., psychometric tests, interviews, observations) to determine the strengths and challenges of the client
- Interpret assessment results and compile comprehensive psychological assessment reports that address the reason for referral and include appropriate recommendations
- Communicate results and recommendations to parents, clinicians and schools
- Develop and oversee high-quality assessment and therapeutic work of other multi-disciplinary team members
- Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team with doctors, nurses, social workers, health visitors, school health nurses, occupational therapists and child care counsellors or any other involved professionals
