Our mission is to: _To create a partnership between members and their credit union for mutual financial success._ We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a **Credit Manager.**Reporting to the CEO, the Credit Manager is a “working leader” in a small organization and is a critical member of our management team. This position provides members with retail lending solutions including residential mortgages, personal loans, lines of credit, credit card approvals, and RRSP loans. It is expected that this position will “pitch in” and support various areas within our Branch operations. Building relationships, identifying member needs, and cross-selling investment and deposit products and services are integral to this role. **Major Responsibilities**: - Manages and oversees the lending function and a small lending team. - Conducts interviews with members to identify lending needs including but not limited to providing individualized financial counseling or restructuring of business debts to members regarding credit services and deposit products offered through the credit union. - Underwrites and approves residential mortgages and consumer loans within assigned limits and processes documentation. - Conducts credit investigations, security inspections and searches as required; prepares releases of security on paid out loans; interprets loan reports and identify further action required to address problem areas such as pending delinquency. - Develops and provides the CEO and Board with monthly written reports that reflect statistics of new and closed loans, delinquencies, off balance sheet loans, staff and board loan account tracking, and other reports as required. - Provides efficient and effective risk management by ensuring all loan activities are completed in compliance with relevant legislation, regulations and credit union policies and procedures **Qualifications**: - A minimum of 3-5 years lending experience at a financial institution as a loans officer/personal banker - At least 2 years of supervisory experience with a strong ability to coach junior lenders - A related degree/ diploma or other relevant post-secondary training - A solid understanding of retail loans and mortgages (including self-employed customers and other unique situations) - Ability to independently develop credit policies and new lending products - Familiarity with all products and services in the financial services industry - Financial planning knowledge and experience - A proven track record of providing excellent member/customer service and meeting sales targets - Strong interpersonal skills with a team orientation - Excellent written and verbal communications skills - Bondable **Assets**: - Credit union experience - Knowledge of Financial Services Regulatory Authority of Ontario (FSRA) regulations - Basic knowledge of commercial lending **What We Offer**: - Competitive salary and incentive plus a comprehensive benefits package that includes drug, dental, and extended health coverage - Excellent employee retirement savings plan with employer match - Investment in your ongoing training and career development - Community involvement which is at the heart of our credit union values and governing cooperative principles OCCU is committed to meeting the needs of all individuals in accordance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA).
