**Job Summary Statement**:
The Health & Safety Specialist is the point of contact for Brimich employees health and safety related inquiries. The H&S Specialist is responsible for administering all facets of the heath & safety policies and procedures with regards to employees, contractors, customers and visitors to Brimich warehouses. The H&S Specialist will be responsible for completing accident/ injury and safety metric reports, conducting safety inspections, promoting accident/injury prevention through observation and training. The H&S Specialist works closely with the Operations Managers and team to provide guidance on Health and Safety to ensure the overall safety of all employees.

**Essential Functions & Responsibilities**:

- Maintain, update and facilitates training sessions for all employees with regards to Health and Safety including safe work practices, use of PPE and machine safety hazards, etc
- Complete, update, and distribute Health & Safety related documentation.
- Champion the Joint Health and Safety committee and safety culture and lead safety meetings.
- Conducts accident/injury investigations, risk assessments, Job Safety Analyses and completes safety reports.
- Conducts SAFE observations and identifies unsafe behavior and conditions and collaborates with Safety and Operations to correct.
- Assist and promote retraining from accident or injury.
- Interpret safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all related legislative requirements.
- Knowledge of proper use of all Material Handling equipment used on site.
- Assist training team in ensuring employee (hourly and management) training material meets all safety requirements.
- Review all current and future work processes for potential safety hazards and risk concerns and provide alternative solutions.

**Job Specifications - Skills and Competencies**:

- Must possess effective oral and written communications skills and excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work well within a team environment and independently.
- Solid understanding of Health & Safety related legislation, provincial and other regulatory authorities.
- First Aid and CPR Training.
- Excellent organizational skills and be a self-starter.
- Well versed in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.).
- Great attention to detail and high accuracy with data entry.
- Experience with safety best practices.
- Strong leadership, presentation and facilitation skills.
- A positive and proactive approach towards solving problems and meeting challenges.

**Education & Training Requirements**:

- A minimum 3 years of experience in a Health and Safety role or related experience is required.
- Post-Secondary education in related field is preferred.
