- In this role you will contribute to analysis, report writing, presentations and project management of a variety of transportation planning projects including but not limited to:
- Transit Project Assessment Processes and Municipal Class Environmental Assessments
- Transportation policy development
- Implementation of new mobility solutions e.g. shared mobility, electric vehicles and autonomous vehicles
- Multi-modal transportation impact assessments and studies
- Bus operational improvements e.g. speed and reliability, transfer management and electrification
**Duties will include**:
- Project management of smaller project or project coordination for larger projects
- Specific tasks may include work planning, budget monitoring, and progress reporting.
- Contributing transportation planning and analytical expertise to the delivery of projects;
- Engaging with clients, external colleagues, and partners including government and non-government agencies;
- Creating and contributing to deliverables including proposals, reports, and presentations for both technical and non-technical audiences;
- Researching / collecting, tabulating, analyzing, and presenting data;
- Analyzing technical data using tools that may include GIS and data models;
- Working in collaborative teams and mentoring more junior colleagues.
**Education, skills and experience to succeed in this role will include**:
- Master’s degree in Transportation Engineering, Planning or similar, or bachelor’s degree with additional commensurate experience;
- 4 or more years of professional experience relevant to the job description;
- One or more professional designations - Professional Engineer (P.Eng.), Registered Professional Planner (RPP), or Project Management Professional (PMP) - are strongly desired;
- Strong written and oral communication skills including the communication of complex technical information to non-technical audiences;
- A history of achieving milestones and meeting deadlines.- Local public sector relationships and project experience;
- Proficiency in one or more of the following software programs and programming languages: EMME, Aimsun, VISSIM, Synchro and Python.
- Knowledge of emerging transportation technologies and business models;
- Understanding of business cases and project appraisal using cost/benefit methods for rapid transit projects;
- Experience with environmental approvals;
- Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills;
- Demonstrable background of working both independently and collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team.
