**Position Summary**: The purpose of the Special Education Technology Trainer (SETT) position is to provide training and support for all staff, students and parents that utilize assistive technology and assistive software. The SETT is responsible for testing, documentation, support and training for all assistive technology and assistive software. This means that you must have all the minimum qualifications listed on the job description (or be granted equivalency) prior to the closing date of the posting in order to be considered eligible for the position. Test and equivalency reviews will not be granted after the closing date of any competition. Secondary school diploma or equivalent Two (2) year college diploma in Computer Science, Technology, Business or related field such as Social Service Worker or Educational Assistant. One (1) to three (3) years of experience in conducting system level assistive technology and software training and support for students, staff, and parents with two (2) years of this experience being in an adult education and training setting.
Current advanced level technical and computer skills and the demonstrated ability to stay current with emerging technologies. Specialized training in Assistive Technology, Assistive Software and classroom software. Demonstrated ability to effectively trouble shoot hardware and software related problems. Demonstrated document authoring and presentation skills.
Demonstrated communication skills dealing with a wide range of people, that will include special education students, parents, teachers, board personnel etc. Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a member of a team, but also work independently with very little supervision while managing multiple demands and system priorities. A valid drivers license and use of own vehicle. A commitment to service excellence.
