Refer to the "How to apply" section if you require a disability-related accommodation. **What can I expect to do in this role?**: In this job, you will: - Interact with members of the public and drivers from diverse backgrounds to promote safe operation of commercial vehicles on the Province's highways - Perform detailed inspections and examinations of commercial vehicles and verify compliance with legislative requirements - Compile reports, gather evidence and information for prosecution and act as a Crown witness - Provide information and advice to stakeholders and educate drivers and the public on the legislative requirements and policies related to transportation safety Note: These positions require working alone or in a team environment on rotating 24/7 shifts, including weekends/statutory holidays. You must be able to conduct inspections of drivers and vehicles, operate weight equipment, utilize ramps and inspect vehicles in all weather conditions. **How do I qualify?**: **Mandatory**: - You must be able to successfully complete MTO training courses, including defensive tactics and Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) training. - You must possess oral French language skills at the advanced level (bilingual position(s) only). Proficiency level will be verified by an Ontario Public Service approved evaluator. **Judgement and Decision Making**: - You have the ability to collect and critically evaluate information to make timely, objective decisions. - You are able to consider organizational goals and the implications of decisions. - You have the ability to identify and assess compliance with legislation and regulations and determine appropriate corrective actions to meet regulatory requirements. **Integrity**: - You are able to conduct yourself according to high moral and ethical principles in all situations. - You are capable of ensuring organizational standards for work quality are met and understand the importance of your work in relation to the public trust. - You are able to monitor and evaluate your work quality and processes against policies, standards and regulations to ensure principles are upheld. **Collaboration**: - You possess the ability to develop and maintain respectful, ethical, and trusting relationships with all people. - You recognize the advantages of working with others and can interact with contacts within internal and external networks effectively. - You have experience developing and maintaining harmonious relationships using effective interpersonal skills to establish rapport and credibility in all interactions with diverse internal and external clients and are able to respond in an appropriate and professional manner. **Influence and Enforcement**: - You have the ability to use the appropriate enforcement approaches, based on the situation, to influence and persuade others to comply with legislation. - You use communication, persuasion, or negotiation skills to convince others to adopt a specific course of action to achieve compliance. **Conflict Management**: - You are able to perceive a conflict accurately and objectively, evaluate potential courses of action and their implications, and implement them.
