We provide food and beverage services to more than 50 high school cafeterias, 10+ corporate cafés, sports and recreation facilities, and a variety of seasonal park concessions. Our multi-million-dollar production facility in Surrey allows us to produce high-quality meals for local companies, develop our own branded products, and deliver exceptional catering services to both long-standing and new clients.
**Position Overview**
As the **Head Chef of our Commissary Kitchen**, you’ll be responsible for overseeing day-to-day kitchen operations, leading a dedicated team, and ensuring that all meals prepared for catering events meet our high standards of taste, presentation, and safety. You’ll also play a key role in **menu development, food costing, inventory control**, and **event execution**.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Lead and manage kitchen staff in a high-volume commissary kitchen
- Plan and prepare high-quality meals for catering events
- Develop and cost creative, seasonal menus aligned with client needs and trends
- Ensure all meals are prepared on time and meet quality standards
- Maintain inventory and manage ordering of supplies and ingredients
- Implement and monitor strong food safety and sanitation protocols (Food Safe Level 2 preferred)
- Attend and support off-site catering events as needed
- Collaborate with event coordinator to ensure culinary execution meets expectations
- Use **Microsoft Excel** to manage food costing, prep sheets, and inventory
- Communicate effectively with kitchen staff, event planners, and suppliers
- Drive continuous improvement in kitchen efficiency and culinary innovation
**What We’re Looking For**
- **Proven experience as a Head Chef or Senior Sous Chef**, preferably in a catering or high-volume production environment
- Strong leadership and kitchen management skills
- Expertise in food costing, ordering, and inventory systems
- Ability to create exciting and innovative menus
- Excellent understanding of food safety and quality assurance practices
- Comfortable using Microsoft Excel for kitchen operations
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends for events
- Must have a valid Driver's License
