The ministry supports Albertans’ health and well-being throughout their lives by protecting public health and promoting wellness; coordinating and delivering safe, person-centered, quality health services; planning capital infrastructure; supporting innovative information management and technologies; regulating health care; and funding the health system.

The Department of Health establishes the Government of Alberta’s strategic direction for health, including advising government on health policy, legislation and standards, and public health concerns; monitoring and reporting health system performance; setting policies and priorities for the electronic/digital health environment; and providing oversight and ensuring accountability across the health system.

**Role Responsibilities**:
Reporting to the Director Registration Services/Health Insurance Programs, this position is accountable implementation of the modernized health care card project. This position has direct responsibility for developing the implementation plan, contributing to policy decisions and delivering services through internal resources and external vendors. The Health Card Modernization Manager oversees and directs health care card modernization operations by working closely with other managers, vendors, Service Alberta and other government departments, the Auditor General, the Ombudsman, and business specialists, governance and leadership teams within AH.

The Manager, Health Care Card Modernization operates in a fast-paced, high-volume, and evolving environment and utilizes project management skills augmented by analytical skills and well-developed data management skills to provide situational reports, financial updates, issue resolution and communications to internal and external stakeholders.

The Manager, Health Card Modernization will be accountable for the following key activities:

- Manage day-to-day operations of the Health Care Card Modernization unit. Scope includes expertise on registration and enrollment processes, exceptional and complicated cases redirected by the vendor, complex registration activities, monitoring quality and service lines that have been retained.
- Using project management principles augmented by analytical and data management skills, provide situation reports, financial updates, and analytical reports to senior leaders within the organization and contribute to briefing notes to the Deputy Minister and others regarding Health Care Card Modernization.
- Manage operational workflow between AH and vendors; aligning services among vendors in accordance with the current SA/AH MOU and schedules, SA Ministerial Policies and related Vendor Code of Conduct; and managing imaging and data conversion contracts,
- Perform demand capacity management; prioritize activities to manage in-house and outsourced volumes within contractual volume limits; monitor volume trends and forecast demand; and initiate capacity planning with SA and vendors,
- Represent Registration Services/Health Insurance Programs Branch on key projects, initiatives, and problem resolution activities where the position's scope of responsibility and knowledge intersects or in some way impacts other Divisions' initiatives and interests:
