**Controller**

**Job Summary**

**Key Responsibilities**

**_Financial Results and Reporting_**
- Ensure the accurate and timely reporting of financial results including leading the financial consolidation in a multi-currency environment.
- Coordinating effective and efficient year-end engagements with external professional services firm including interim review activities.
- Establish, monitor, and enforce policies and procedures related to tangible assets and financial reporting.

**_Financial Systems and Operational Efficiencies_**
- Review and evaluate accounting team structure and systems to support operational and business goals and to meet the needs and objectives of a growing company.
- Play a leadership role in the accounting and finance-related integration of new acquisitions.
- Review, recommend, and assist in the evolution and implementation of systems and processes to ensure efficient and effective delivery of internal accounting and finance reporting.

**_Short and Long-Term Planning_**
- Work with the Senior Manager, FP&A to coordinate monthly, quarterly, and annual internal financial / management reporting.
- Assist with both short-term and long-term planning and forecasting of company results including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow.

**_Invoicing and Accounts Payable_**
- Provide guidance and oversight to the accounts payable team to ensure accurate and timely processing of incoming invoices and outgoing payments.

**_Stewardship, Taxes, Controls, and Compliance_**
- Safeguard corporate assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing appropriate internal controls over processes, financial reporting, and financial assets.
- Coordinate necessary calculations, support, and documentation for previous acquisitions, various covenants, and various internal incentive structures.
- Responsible for the accurate and timely preparation and submission of appropriate income tax and input tax returns and related filings (working with external tax advisors).
- Ensure compliance with local, provincial / state, federal, and other regulatory requirements.

**_Sales Commissions and Incentive Models_**
- Compile sales incentive details and drive various compensation models.

**_Leadership and Other_**
- Oversee the daily operation of the accounting department.
- Assign work, set objectives, and evaluate performance of the accounting team.
- Promote effective teamwork, feedback, and guidance to direct and indirect finance reports and drive a culture of continuous learning and development.
- Provide strong and supported fact-based recommendations.
- Manage accounting staff by recruiting, orienting, training, and coaching employees.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing professional publications among other things.
- Complete / execute other special projects that may arise from time-to-time as requested by the CFO or members of the leadership team.

**Qualifications**
- Post secondary degree specializing in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Professional designation (i.e. CPA) is required.
- 7+ years of work experience in Accounting / Finance including 3+ years of managerial / leadership experience as a Controller, Accounting Director, or Accounting Manager.
- Knowledge of US / Canadian GAAP and best practices.
- Highly collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to work both independently and as a member of a larger team; Proven success in developing and maintaining positive team spirit.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to influence others and to collaborate across levels of the organization.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to think strategically.
- Advanced Excel skills with proficiency in PowerPoint.
- Industry experience in a manufacturing, production, or logistics environment is preferred but not required.
- Experience working in a mid-sized company (250-500 employees) and / or within a strong entrepreneurial environment is an asset.
- Proficient in ERP systems and financial software packages.
