**JOB OVERVIEW**:
The Total Rewards Specialist will be responsible for supporting the Director, Total Rewards in implementing the short
- and long-term Total Rewards strategy by providing compensation and benefits analysis, administration, and process improvements to ensure the company’s plans remain competitive and cost effective.
**RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Manage the research, data analytics and analyzes internal and external programs and practices to further improve our benefits and rewards programs.
- Develops and documents best-in-class benefits and pension administrative practices applicable across all of Colas’ business entities.
- Administer competitive compensation programs such as job evaluations, pay equity analysis, and merit cycle.
- Support the administration of retirement plans, ensuring that the plans are executed in compliance with internal policies as well as legislative requirements
- Assist in the project management of implementing benefits, compensation, and pension programs.
- Work closely with the Human Resources Partner and local benefits teams in responding to escalated and plan compliance inquiries related to our total rewards program and practices.
- On a regular basis, conducts benefits and pension-related audits to ensure data accuracy within HRIS system and vendors systems in conjunction with other key stakeholders.
- Process enrolments, changes, and terminations for the executive group of eligible benefit and pension participants.
- Partners with communications to execute on how to best educate our employees on various Total Rewards
- programs and offerings.
**WHAT YOU BRING**:
- Deep knowledge of total rewards principles, benefits and retirement plan design, including market analysis and benchmarking.
- Understanding of relevant legislation and regulations related to benefits and retirement programs in Canada
- Expert level user of Excel (i.e. pivot tables, lookups, advanced formulas) and modeling with large and complex data sets from various sources
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to collect and interpret data to drive informed decision-making.
- Proficiency in HRIS systems (SAP), payroll practices, and data analysis tools
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to collect and analyze big data to thoroughly think through problems and situations.
- Experience with implementing and execution of benefit changes and/or involvement with employee change management
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and confidentiality in handling sensitive employee information.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Continuous learning mindset and a proactive approach to staying updated on industry trends and best practices.
**OTHER REQUIREMENTS**:
- Minimum 5 years in Benefits & Pension Administration, with focus on audits, analytics and process improvements.
- Minimum 3 years in administration of compensation practices and legislative compliance.
- Minimum of an associate degree in HR or related field
