Nestled on the serene shores of Lake Isle, our camp provides over 550 individuals with special needs the opportunity to experience a week of independence, connection, and joy. This position is a 6-month contract from February 1 until the end of August, and it requires living at Lake Isle camp from June to August.
What You Will Be Doing
As the heartbeat of our summer programming, you’ll:
- Design and Lead: Develop innovative, adaptive programs and activities that inspire fun, inclusion, and personal growth for campers of all abilities.
- Empower a Team: Recruit, train, and mentor a diverse team of 40 staff and volunteers, fostering a culture of positivity and teamwork.
- Be the Face of Camp: Connect with campers and their families, ensuring every individual feels welcomed, heard, and supported.
- Champion Safety: Oversee health and safety standards, creating a secure environment where campers and staff thrive.
- Manage with Purpose: Assist in managing budgets, resources, and operations to deliver a seamless camp experience.
- Spread the Word: Share the magic of Camp He Ho Ha through vibrant social media, newsletters, and community outreach.
- Drive Growth: Gather feedback, analyze program success, and present your insights to our leadership team.
What You Bring to the Role
- Education in either recreation, education, nonprofit management, or any related field (preferred).
- Proven experience in camp management, youth programming, or similar leadership roles.
- Outstanding organizational and leadership skills to inspire your team and manage complex operations.
- A natural communicator with excellent interpersonal skills to connect with diverse audiences.
- Flexibility to embrace evening and weekend hours during the busy camp season.
- First Aid/CPR certification (preferred but not required).
Other Requirements
- Must provide a criminal record and vulnerable sector check
- Must have a driver’s license
