**Position Summary**:
The role of this position is to assist the Food Safety Manager in coordinating a facility-wide GMP/HACCP Food Safety Program, and to ensure that these programs are adhered to, including facility compliance and achieving audit requirements on a 3 months contract.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Perform daily checks and record information as required to ensure all company, customer, and regulatory specifications and requirements are met, including but not limited to:

- Inspection of raw materials, packaging components, in-process and finished for quality and for proper codes, lot numbers, and dates including information necessary for lot tracing.
- Pre and post operational checks and record information/deviations as necessary, including notification to concerned employee/supervisor along with the and follow up on corrective actions.
- Metal Detector Checks to ensure proper operation and verification of detectors.
- weight checks, product, freezer and cooler temperatures, ATP testing, pest control, sanitation procedures, and preventative maintenance.
- Verify the packaging line and perform packaging approval along with the production supervisor before the start of production or packaging changeover.
- Cleaning and Sanitation - Monitor cleaning records and frequencies. Train employees on SSOP’s. Assist the Food Safety Manager in designing the SSOP’s.
- Training Employees and Monitoring good manufacturing processes for compliance
- Maintain weight control documentation for finished product and give feedback for adjustment to maintain target weights
- Ensure implementation of quality assurance and other company standards throughout production, receiving, and shipping
- Records: Verify that all daily records are complete and report any discrepancies to ensure compliance with the Food Safety Plan.
- Attend scheduled meetings and give inputs to improve the process.
- Enforce and monitor current company GMP, SSOP, and HACCP guidelines. Follow through with the correction of deficiencies.
- Has authority and is responsible for hold/release of non-conforming products.
- Reviews production records to ensure all paperwork is complete and accurate on daily basis; correct deviations in a timely manner to minimize loss and avoid non-compliance products are shipped
- Assists Management in various projects related to Quality.
- Implement food safety programs related to production including SOP’s, QP’S, WI’s, etc.
- Discuss and follow up incident reports and non-conformances with employees.

Conduct and perform training activities related to food quality and food safety (HACCP, GMPs, Allergen). Assists in training of crew in food safety, quality assurance theory and practice, processes, and procedures.

**Physical Demands**:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Manual dexterity and utilization of both hands and all fingers is required. The employee is frequently required to twist, bend and stoop. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 20kgs, and lift and/or move more than 20kgs with the aid of a co-worker. The employee must be able to push/pull racks, use manual or automated pallet jacks and other equipment. Frequent flexing, extending and turning of the neck and head are required.

**Minimum Requirements**:
Post-secondary education in food science, microbiology, or related field of study.

Required 2 years’ quality experience in the food industry.

QA/QC experience in the food industry is a strong asset. Experience operating in an SQF system is an asset.

Food Safety, HAACP and GMP principal knowledge.

Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite in addition to knowledge of manufacturing processes and procedures.

Knowledge in Food Safety, HAACP, and GMPs.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 3 months

Pay: $20.50 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week

Schedule:

- 10 hour shift
- Evening shift
- Morning shift
- Night shift

**Experience**:

- Quality assurance: 2 years (required)
- Food industry: 2 years (required)
