**Position purpose**:
Reporting to the Supervisor, Library and Archives, the incumbent plans, organizes and coordinates audiovisual documents section (photographic documents, sound recordings and moving images). Develops, conserves, organizes, handles and distributes centre documentary resources in keeping with records management principles, rules and procedures. Assists the archives authority with archives service planning and helps raise the centre’s profile.

**In this role, your responsibilities will include**:
Ensures development of the audiovisual section and plans its activities. Analyzes needs and recommends necessary equipment, software and supplies. Working with the archives supervisor, defines section objectives and the means to achieve them.

Organizes, coordinates and completes audiovisual section activities related to archival processing (assessment and selection, acquisition, classification, description, indexation, dissemination, preservation), in accordance with archival principles, rules and procedures; policies, regulations and practices in effect at the centre; and federal and provincial law.

Develops research tools and databases to integrate audiovisual items into centre archive reference systems and maximize dissemination.

Coordinates and verifies transfer and restoration of audiovisual items, in accordance with records management principles and procedures. Handles migration of items as requested.

**What you will bring**:
University degree in archives administration, records science, information science or a related field, with three years’ experience in a similar position, or a combination of education and experience.

Knowledge of Rules for Archival Description (RAD) and of research tools (guides, directories, inventories, database management systems, etc.)

Knowledge of commonly-used software (FileMaker Pro, AtoM) and technological environments

Knowledge of federal and provincial law affecting archives (Copyright Act, Privacy Act, Archives and Recordkeeping Act, etc.)

Excellent French-language writing skills

Organizational skills, with ability to work under pressure and meet firm deadlines

Ability to handle work requiring precision and attention to detail

Resourcefulness and independence

Visual and manual dexterity, with physical strength required to lift boxes weighing up to 20 kg

Bilingualism — French and English (spoken and written)
