Investment Officer

**SCOPE OF POSITION**

The Investment Officer provides professional and efficient service to members utilizing sound knowledge of Alterna products and services to fulfill their transactional needs and provide an excellent member experience.

This role quickly develops a rapport with members and proactively identifies their needs, promotes Alterna products and services while ensuring compliance and adherence to operational policies and procedures and all applicable Acts, Regulations and Credit Union Bylaws.

This role will provide membership openings and investment services to members and potential members.

**EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE LEVEL**:

- High School diploma or equivalent
- Successful completion of Credit Union Orientation, Teller training, Sales and Service modules, CUIC 240 (Fundamentals of Personal Financial Planning)
- Mutual Funds license
- Knowledge and understanding of Regulations and Acts as appropriate to the Credit Union; including but not limited to Anti Money Laundering, Privacy, Robbery Prevention, WHIMS, Workplace Violence and Harassment, Ontario Accessibility Standards
- Advanced knowledge of Credit Union products and services
- A demonstrated ability to work with numbers and cash
- Strong communication skills (oral and written)
- 3 years Mutual Funds and investment sales and administration experience
- 2 - 3 years Customer service and/or sales experience is required
- Computer proficiency in Word, Excel and Outlook is required
- Excellent interpersonal skills, sales skills, and referral skills
- Commitment to continuous education

**MAJOR DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Maintain and build member relationships by providing excellent, timely and courteous services to meet the needs of members and potential members
- Generate sales and sales referrals by actively promoting and cross-selling NCCU products and services
- Meet or exceed personal sales and referral objectives; track and record all sales and referrals
- Conducts interviews, recommends investment products and services appropriate for the member
- Ensure accurate completion of investment and mutual fund documents
- Open new memberships and accounts
- Post entries for all financial and non-financial transactions related to Credit Union investment products
- Ensure the maintenance of investment files, ensuring information is current and complete. Monitor and make changes as necessary
- Ensure that closed RRSP & RRIF files are removed from current files and filed in closed accounts file cabinet to await statute of limitations
- Contact members and mail out renewal notices for RRSP, RRIF and Term Deposits
- Contacts RRSP contract holders who will be turning 71 in the current calendar year
- Assist families of members, with estate matters, as they relate to Credit Union deposits
- Ensure completion and administration of all documentation required to settle estates, including but not limited to registered products and other investments; refers document requests to lending department as required
- Ensure that all promotional, marketing and educational materials relating to investments are kept current
- Assist with the creation of new ways to promote the investment products to existing and potential members
- Provide list of all index-link sales as required
- Discuss members needs and refer to appropriate department as necessary
- Answer phone courteously and promptly
- Develop and build internal relationships with other staff members, supporting branch operations to meet member service requirements and to assist with resolving issues or concerns
- Actively participate in team meetings, workshops, and courses
- Take responsibility for personal development plan; schedule meeting with manager to discuss development plan
- Other duties as assigned

**EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS**
- Travel may be required
- Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals
- May be required to work extended hours
- Must be able to meet required deadlines
- Arrive at work in time to be at assigned workstation, ready to work by the appointed time
