**Project Officer**
**Summer Student Position (Approx. 4 Months)**
**DUTIES**:
- Assists in the design, tendering and inspection of maintenance and renovation projects.- Designs work involving small architectural oriented renovation projects or small
- municipal engineering projects (drainage, parking).- Refines scope of work for assigned projects by reviewing approved scope of work with
- school principals.- Prepares tender documents, including drawings and specifications, for tendering directly to
- the trade or through the Division’s Purchasing Department.- Evaluates quotes and award contracts.
- Completes project inspections and coordinates site meetings and visits throughout the
- construction period.- As inspector, monitors construction, identifies deficiencies, negotiates extras, solves day to
- day problems on site, and is generally responsible for quality control of each job.**QUALIFICATIONS**:
- Second or Third Year Architecture or Engineering student.- Knowledge of building codes and good engineering/architectural practice required.
- Proficiency with CAD drafting programs such as Vectorworks is required.
- Some knowledge of building systems.
- Ability to research codes and standards related to building construction.
- Must have and maintain a valid Manitoba Driver’s License, have access to a vehicle and be
able to travel from building to building as required.
**SALARY**: $15.43 to 16.38 per hour + 4% vacation pay
