**Summer Student - Landscape Labourer**
**JOB SUMMARY**
The Fred Douglas Lodge Personal Care Home is seeking one (1) full-time Summer Student for entry level position. This position will report to the Maintenance Department and will assist with the following:
- General clean-up, lawn maintenance and gardening.
- Trimming of bushes and hedges.
- Preparing and maintaining flower beds.
- Repairing and maintaining outdoor seating areas.
- Painting exterior wooden structures (benches, railing, patio, etc).
- Cleaning and organizing all maintenance supply rooms and receiving dock.
- Accepting deliveries and ensuring supplies are removed from the receiving dock to appropriate storage areas.
- Assisting other maintenance staff with repairs and renovation projects
- Provide assistance with other projects and initiatives.
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
- Must be between 15 and 30 years old (inclusive) at the start of employment.
- Is a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.
- Is legally entitled to work according to provincial legislation and regulations.
- Must be a student that is returning to school, college or university in the fall.
- Must be physically fit.
- Must be reliable.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
**CONDITIONS OF WORK**:
The conditions of work may involve exposure to blood and body fluids, unpredictable resident behaviour, injury from sharps and other instruments if actively providing care to residents. Performance of administrative duties results in minimum exposure. Exposure to animals, birds, and pet dander may occur on some units.
**Job Type**: Part-time
