Junior Automation Specialist

As an Automation Controls Specialist within our Calgary office, you will collaborate with senior team members, playing a multi-faceted role supporting our clients in the Automation Solutions space. You will be pivotal in solving our customers’ business problems using your creativity and technical expertise to create, design and implement innovative control system solutions. Ultimately, you will provide superior client experiences partnering with your internal team to cohesively deliver a vision, energy, and intensity that exceeds client expectations.

**What would a typical day look like?**
- Automation Specialists will work on various stages of automation and control projects including PLC programming, HMI design, SCADA system design, electrical design and troubleshooting/testing/debugging
- Participate in planning sessions that will identify industry business drivers and trends that will serve as the basis for developing key offerings to our clients
- Work as a part of a project delivery team, developing and implementing client solutions both in our office, and at client facilities.
- Participate in Client Field commissioning at remote locations, and responding to urgent or emergency calls
- Mentor and train under some of the best and brightest minds within the Process Automation space, learn technical concepts and gain understanding in complex systems and advanced control methods

**What qualifies you for this opportunity?**
- Post-secondary degree/diploma in Engineering or Engineering Technology, or equivalent qualifications preferred
- **Experience in any of the following is beneficial**:Instrumentation, process design, electrical construction; PLC Programming; HMI/SCADA Design; Exposure to client facilities at remote locations / commissioning; Troubleshooting/Testing/Debugging
- A proven self-starter with a positive, “can-do” attitude who is motivated by solving complex challenges
- A strong client-focused approach, dedicated to providing exceptional client experiences to our internal and external customers
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Motivated & passionate about working with people and overcoming challenges through collaboration and a win-win paradigm
- An ability to travel; Automation Specialists at JMP should have the ability to travel within the US and Canada
