**The Role**

Reporting to the Building Operations Manager, the Building Operator performs routine maintenance and upkeep of buildings in our commercial real estate portfolio, comprising office, retail, industrial, and mixed-use properties. This role is 100% in-person and on-call duties are required.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Ensure buildings are maintained in proper working order.
- Conduct regular interior and exterior inspections of properties and test fire alarm systems monthly.
- Promptly respond to electronic work orders submitted via facility management software.
- Routinely perform all work in strict accordance with governing, standard operating procedures.
- Respond immediately to emergency situations (fire, evacuation, equipment failure, etc.).
- Coordinate HVAC and other preventative maintenance/service contracts.
- Make adjustments to building automation systems as needed.
- Be available for on-call duty for after-hours building emergencies on a pre-determined, rotating schedule.
- Maintain a clean and safe workplace.
- Perform additional job duties as requested.

**Skills & Qualifications**
- Experience in commercial building operations.
- Working knowledge of HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Knowledge of building and fire codes, the _Occupational Health and Safety Act_, and WHMIS procedures.
- Proficiency in Office 365 (Sharepoint, Outlook, Teams). Experience with Yardi is a strong asset.
- Experience with BAS (building automation systems) is a strong asset.
- Training in building operations (e.g. BOMI courses) is a strong asset.
- A valid Canadian driver’s license with access to a reliable personal vehicle is required.
- Eligible for federal security clearances.
