Campbell River Family Services Society has a vacancy for a **Family Support Worker**in our Family Support Program. This is a regular, part-time position. The **Family Support Worker**provides outreach support to identified families by developing and implementing short-term issue specific intervention plans that help address issues related to family functioning.

**Key Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Gathers information relevant to the client’s circumstances, needs and risks by interviewing, observing behaviour, meeting with caregivers and service providers and using a variety of inventories, checklists and questionnaires. Assesses the information gathered to identify client problems, needs and risks. Develops and implements an intervention plan within program guidelines.
- Provide support, guidance and problem-solving to clients to address issues related to family functioning in an individual or group setting using techniques such as active listening, conflict resolution, basic group counselling techniques and psycho-educational group methods to resolve identified problems, risks and needs.
- Participates in the development, modification and evaluation of client service plans with the integrated case management team. Participates in integrated case management meetings on a regular basis to report client’s activities and progress.
- Outlines services provided by the program and/or organization. Provides information on and referral to other community service providers, resources and professionals as required.
- Provides parent skill building to clients on issues such as parent-child interaction, child development, discipline and guidance, and behaviour management.
- Provides emotional support and feedback to clients.
- Plans and conducts group educational sessions on topics related to family functioning.
- Liaises with and/or promotes the interests of clients with other community service providers, professionals and school personnel as required. Accompanies clients to meetings and appointments as required.
- Maintains related client records, reports and provides reports to the supervisor. Complies with accreditation requirements of the program.
- Performs other related duties as required.

**Abilities, Skills and Knowledge**:

- Knowledge and ability to use techniques such as basic counselling, active listening and conflict resolution.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
- Good organization, time and general management skills.
- Ability to function as a team member.
- Cultural sensitivity and understanding of the client.

**Qualifications & Experience**:
A degree in a related human/social service field; one (1) year recent related experience or equivalent combination education, training and experience.

**Salary Rate**:
Wage per current collective agreement - $29.17 - $33.49 per hour, JJEP grid 12, step 1.*

**Hours per week**:
31.5 hours per week

**Schedule**:
To be determined with Executive Director.

**Other Information**:
This position requires:

- union membership;
- successful completion of a criminal record check; and
- Vehicle for the performance of duties.
