Dexter Construction Company is a large, diversified Construction Company engaged in all major aspects of the heavy civil construction industry within the Atlantic Provinces. We are currently looking for Asphalt Operators to join our operations out of Moncton and Woodstock, New Brunswick for the 2025 season. These positions may involve travel to other parts of the province as the need arises.
Asphalt Operators are responsible for the safe and efficient operation of highways and other paving operations.
**Primary Duties and Responsibilities**:
Ability to operate various equipment such as Rollers, Loaders, Excavators, Backhoe and Grader, tail-ender,
Perform a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor;
Be aware of surroundings at all times;
Maintain a clean job site, and equipment in order to eliminate potential hazards;
Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task;
Ensure the safety of fellow employees;
Perform other duties as assigned;
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, and Experience:
2 years of experience operating various equipment in a construction environment;
Valid driver’s license in good standing;
Willingness to work in a team environment; sometimes long hours are required
Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner;
Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers and supervisors to ensure that projects are completed properly;
Working safely is a condition of employment.
**Working Conditions**:
The Equipment Operator’s role may include physically strenuous activities. The Equipment operators will be lifting, pulling, and managing heavy equipment and objects. The Equipment operators will require the use of PPE, Hardhat, Steel Toe Boots, and reflective vests to minimize risk on the worksite. The worksite environment for this position is outside in varying weather conditions.
