Position Summary
Transporter, Portering Services
You goal in this position is to primarily transport patients throughout the Hospital. However, you will also transport materials, linen, supplies and other duties as assigned. You work well independently with no supervision, and are able to set priorities. You are an effective team player and have excellent interpersonal and communication skills. You also demonstrate basic computer skills. This position supports the Hospital’s academic mandate by advancing care through teaching and learning and/or transforming care through research and innovation. This position contributes to the shared responsibility of ensuring health and safety policies are followed to provide for a healthy environment for staff, physicians, volunteers, learners, patients and families.
On a practical level, you will

Transport blood and specimens to the lab

Assist patients and nursing staff with a variety of services

Deliver supplies

Clean equipment as required

Receive all calls through the HRC

Move equipment to storage for repair

Answer and respond to requests

Respond to Codes

Assist in team efforts to complete tasks in an unsupervised environment

Deliver clean linen

Refill Scrub
- Ex Machine

Collect soiled linen

**Qualifications**:
Grade 12 or equivalent

Experience required in continuous heavy lifting, processing of documentation through use of computers and dealing with client concerns by phone and in person

Bilingualism in French/ English an asset

This is a Part Time Permanent position, with 4 & 8 hour shifts, all shifts including weekends in the Portering Services Department. We offer a highly competitive total compensation package which includes pay in lieu of benefits, vacation pay and the opportunity to join the Hospital Pension Plan.
