The Health Force Division of Ontario Health drives the advancement of health human resources (HHR) initiatives with a focus on building and optimizing health workforce capacity in critical health system areas, supporting priority populations through equitable access to HHR, building provincial HHR data repositories, maximizing and optimizing health professional recruitment supports, and providing crisis response/system stabilization solutions to HHR challenges.

Reporting to the Manager, Health Workforce Advisors, the incumbent is accountable to work at the local and provincial level to provide a broad range of health workforce supports to communities across Ontario. This includes leveraging health system knowledge and expertise to respond to urgent health workforce needs as well as developing long-term solutions to help support the optimization and sustainability of the local/regional health workforce.

To achieve program objectives, the incumbent leads a portfolio of services including engagement with medical schools, health professional training programs and professional associations focused on building partnerships that help drive health workforce solutions. The incumbent is an expert on the health professional labour market, understanding supply, demand and distribution of assigned priority health professions. Further, the incumbent provides expertise on leading recruitment and retention practices, including transitioning into practice, on-boarding, scheduling and succession planning. The incumbent plays a critical role in identifying health professionals seeking employment opportunities and connecting them to high-need healthcare organizations.

Here is what you will be doing:
- Engages independently with senior-level health system leaders (e.g., Chiefs of Staff,, Medical Affairs, VP of Human Resources, Lead Physicians, OHT Leaders) and other key stakeholders on complex health human resource issues and develops local/regional health workforce solutions such as recruitment and retention tactics, optimizing funding and facilitating partnerships.- Provides expert-level knowledge on HHR to inform local/regional health workforce planning and to respond to health system priorities, including leading recruitment and retention practices, staffing model optimization, needs assessments and identifying system-level supports.- Engages directly with assigned health professionals to connect them to job opportunities in high-need areas. Engagement includes outreach to health professional training programs, delivering customized content for new-to-practice health providers entering the workforce with the overall goal to improve health workforce distribution across Ontario.- Interprets health workforce data and information to identify and evaluate local trends, challenges and opportunities; based on this analysis, develops concrete action plans to address local/regional workforce needs.- Identifies and solves complex health human resource challenges by connecting directly with employers, system stakeholder and health professionals to develop short
- and long-term solutions.- Establishes and maintains critical partnerships with health professional training programs and associations with the purpose to understand/address local, regional and provincial health workforce challenges and recommends actions to improve health workforce capacity.- Fosters the adoption of leading health workforce practices across the province through employer and community engagement.- Brings together local and regional stakeholders to build consensus to resolve health workforce challenges.-
- Supports the Manager with special projects, operational activities and training new staff on program operations.

Here is what you will need to be successful:
Education and Experience- Post-secondary degree in a related field (such as health administration, business administration, political sciences or human resources); Master’s degree preferred- Project Management (PMP) Certification is an asset- 5+ years of experience within the healthcare sector, including experience with HHR-related initiatives and engaging senior-level health system leaders (e.g., physician leadership, CEOs, etc.)

Knowledge and Skills- Proficiency in French is a requirement for the Advisor position in the North (East) region.- Specialized knowledge of relevant health workforce issues, which may include health professional training, on-boarding, labour relations, scheduling, supply, demand, and recruitment and retention.- Specialized knowledge of specific segments of the health workforce, which may include physicians, nurses and personal support workers (PSWs).- A strong understanding of the healthcare system broadly as well as specialized sector specific knowledge, which may include primary care, hospitals, long-term care or home and community care- Knowledge of relevant policies and procedures for licensing/cer
