**Position Summary**
Join Quinte Health’s Surgical Unit as a valued Health Care Aide, where your compassionate support plays a vital role in delivering high-quality care to patients with medical, surgical, and palliative needs. Our 28-bed unit—including two dedicated palliative care suites—provides a dynamic and collaborative environment where you’ll work closely with nurses and other care team members to support patient comfort, safety, and well-being.
As a Health Care Aide, you’ll assist with daily living activities, monitor patient conditions, and contribute to a positive care experience. Strong time management and prioritization skills are essential, along with a willingness to collaborate and seek guidance from nursing staff and Patient Care Leads (PCLs) when needed.

**Required**
- Currently enrolled and have successfully completed the first year with an accredited Registered Nursing (BScN) Program or Registered Practical Nursing Program.
- Current CPR or BCLS certification
- Capable of coping with a physically demanding workload (physical demands listed)
**Duties**
- Performs or assists patients with activities of daily living, including basic hygiene as assigned (i.e. bathing, toileting, dressing, oral care, personal grooming, etc.).
- Adheres to worker responsibilities as set out in the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Hospital policies.
- Effectively communicates to RN/RPN in a timely, objective manner without interpretation the following, but not limited to: Patient information specific to assigned activities, observed changes in patients’ condition, patient findings and/or unusual occurrences.
- Document in the Health Record as appropriate.
- Assists in meeting patients’ psychosocial needs, i.e. engaging patients in conversation, taking patients for walks, assisting with unit programs.
- Support care partners and visitors to safely engage with their loved ones while in the hospital
- Collaborate with the assigned registered staff to identify and prioritize completion of essential care plan elements.
- Other duties as assigned.
