- Oversee waste sorting and material diversion to maximize landfill reduction
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, permits, and company policies
- Track operational metrics and report on performance to the General Manager
- Supervise, schedule, and support site staff with clear roles and responsibilities
- Provide training on safety, equipment use, and environmental practices
- Foster a positive, accountable workplace culture aligned with Salish Soils’ values
- Conduct safety inspections, lead toolbox talks, and ensure WorkSafeBC compliance
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and support innovation in recycling and waste diversion

What Success Looks Like
- Safe operations - Staff consistently follow safety procedures; incidents are minimized
- Quality outputs - Compost products meet standards; waste diversion goals are achieved
- Engaged staff - Team members feel supported, valued, and aligned with company values
- Strong leadership - Issues are addressed constructively, and staff contributions are recognized
- Compliance - Operations meet or exceed environmental and regulatory requirements
- Continuous improvement - Processes evolve to improve efficiency, innovation, and sustainability

You Might Be a Good Fit If You - Have experience supervising operations in waste management, composting, recycling, or related fields
- Lead with accountability and can balance people, safety, and operational priorities
- Communicate clearly and foster respectful, productive teamwork
- Stay calm under pressure and adapt quickly when priorities shift
- Care about sustainability, Indigenous leadership, and community impact

Compensation
- $40.00 - $45.00 per hour based on qualifications and experience
- Paid vacation and personal days off
- Extended Benefits including health, dental, critical illness, and life insurance
- Staff discounts and access to soil, compost, and produce
- Opportunities for professional growth as the site expands
