Lead daily clinical lab operations, managing workflows, staff schedules, and troubleshooting to ensure smooth, efficient service.
Mentor and support a dedicated team of fewer than 20 MLTs, MLAs, and clerks, fostering collaboration and growth.
Uphold quality and compliance by partnering with Medical Leads to maintain accreditation and safety standards.
Drive recruitment, onboarding, and professional development to build a strong, future-ready team.
Manage resources and inventory to equip your team with everything needed for exceptional patient care.
Engage with the community as a visible leader, championing patient-centered care beyond the lab walls.
**Requirements**:
What you’ll bring
Required Certification by the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS)
Hands on experience as a Medical Laboratory Technologist, with either leadership or supervisory experience in a lab setting, or a strong desire to grow into leadership, supported by formal education (e.g., leadership courses, management certificates) or transferable experience (e.g., team lead roles, mentoring, peer training).
Relevant experience may include roles such as Laboratory Supervisor, Medical Laboratory Supervisor, Clinical Lab Supervisor, Lab Operations Supervisor, Site Lead, Laboratory Services, Medical Laboratory Team Lead, Laboratory Operations Lead, Regional Lab Site Supervisor, Seasoned Lab Technologist or Senior Medical Lab Technologist.
5+ years of leadership experience, including at least three years in a supervisory role as a Medical Laboratory Technologist, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and demonstrable leadership potential.
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills to navigate a fast-paced, evolving environment.
Excellent communication skills, able to connect clearly and empathetically with diverse team members, patients and partners
Demonstrated knowledge of the historic and ongoing impacts of settler colonialism on Indigenous Peoples in social and health contexts, including supported by significant knowledge of Indigenous-specific mandates, including clear understanding of and commitment to eradicate Indigenous-specific racism and discrimination and embed Indigenous Cultural Safety and Humility.
Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of the historic and ongoing impacts of settler colonialism and systemic racism on Indigenous Peoples within social and health contexts. This includes understanding how these factors contribute to current health disparities and barriers to care. Show a clear commitment to identifying, challenging, and eradicating Indigenous-specific racism and all forms of discrimination impacting equity-deserving groups within health care settings. This involves familiarity and understanding Indigenous Cultural Safety and Humility recognizing personal biases, institutional barriers, engaging in anti-racism education and training and advocating for systemic change.
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of legislative obligations and provincial commitments within PHSA contexts found in the foundational documents including Truth & Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action (2015), In Plain Sight (2020), BC's
Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019), United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP), Reclaiming Power and Place Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women & Girls Calls for Justice (2019), the Declaration Act Action Plan and Remembering Keegan: A First Nations Case Study - BC Human Rights Code, BC Anti-racism Act and how they intersect across the health care system.
