Barbra Schlifer Commemorative Clinic offers trauma-informed legal services and representation, counselling and multilingual interpretation, and drives system transformation to support women and gender-diverse people who have experienced violence. Rooted in the foundations of intersectionality, innovation, and a client-centered approach, we foster the skills and resilience of the people we serve and amplify their voices to create individual and collective change.
We are seeking two dedicated Case Managers for the Resilient Together initiative. This 2.5-year project aims to prevent gender-based violence (GBV) by promoting a common risk assessment, case management, and service coordination framework. The initiative focuses on improving safety for GBV survivors through holistic, trauma-informed, and intersectional approaches.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
All duties and responsibilities will be carried out in accordance with Barbra Schlifer Clinic's Mandate, Mission and Values.
1. CASE MANAGEMENT
- Employ the RISA tool for risk assessment and case management to ensure a standardized and effective approach to managing GBV cases
- Engage directly with GBV survivors, providing support and ensuring their needs are met throughout the project
- Address overall user experience, including problem-solving and mitigating any challenges that may arise
- Utilize different modalities of services - on-site, in community, in-person and virtually
2. COORDINATION AND COLLABORATION
- Collaborate with the Community Engagement Working Group (CEWG), a group of GBV survivors, to enhance community involvement and support, and manage the moving pieces of the workplan
- Provide training support, case management support, and journey mapping for the Clinic and partner agencies
- Coordinate the RISA pilot, including feedback and looping back to the team and IT team, and testing at the Clinic
- Implement phases: use the current version of RISA, pilot it, provide feedback, help develop new pieces, and conduct final testing of the improved version with added elements
3. OTHER & ADMIN
- Leverage existing partnerships to create service pathways to the Clinic and other relevant services for women from hidden, marginalised and underserved communities
- Use data-driven insights to continuously improve service delivery
- Collaborate with other Clinic teams as required
- Participate in staff meetings and trainings
- Submit timely narrative and statistical progress reports as required
- Other related duties as assigned
KEY RELATIONSHIPS
- These positions will work with the Clinic's Executive Office, Intake and Legal teams, as well as the Clinic’s Evaluator
- These positions report to and are supervised by the Executive Director or her designate
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- A degree in social work, psychology, or a related field. A master's degree is preferred.
- Proven experience in case management, particularly in GBV contexts
- Strong understanding of trauma-informed legal practice
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team
- Commitment to social justice and the Clinic’s mission
- Minimum 2 years’ experience of working with marginalized and immigrant, refugee and non-status populations is preferred
- Strong understanding of the legal landscape related to GBV and criminalization issues
- Awareness of intersecting conditions that affect the experience of violence and trauma among a diverse clientele
- Demonstrated exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to interface in a purposeful, positive and productive manner with diverse justice system professionals, service providers and administrators in the courts and in the broader legal systems and with diverse stakeholders in the community at large
- Demonstrated understanding of legal and social issues relating to domestic violence, social services or community development consistent with an intersectional feminist/anti-oppression analysis
- Commitment to working cooperatively in a woman-positive, multi-disciplinary environment
- Understanding of Immigration issues and migrant rights in the context of Family law is an asset
- Ability to exercise sound judgment when encountering difficult situations and in performing job responsibilities
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders
- French language skills will be considered a strong asset
