Kichton Contracting Ltd. is looking for experienced, full time (seasonal) **Pipe Layers and Top Person(s)**. We are looking for an outgoing, adaptable individual looking to learn and grow within our team and industry.

The Pipe Layer is responsible for ensuring pipe is installed per project specifications and is properly bedded and side tamped. The Pipe Layer must be able to work safely and efficiently and positively participate in our Company safety culture.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Review, understand, and follow all safe work practices and procedures.
- Direct mainline excavation to appropriate elevation and grade in preparation for pipe installation.
- Ensure proper aggregate bedding under pipe is at required standards/specifications.
- Ensure pipe is installed per manufacturer’s guidelines and project specifications.
- Ensure pipe is properly bedded and side tamped accordingly.
- Set manholes, CBMH, CB’s, valves, bends, and hydrants according to standards and specifications.
- Mentor Pipe Layer Helpers for further advancement.
- Complete daily documentation thoroughly, including: FLHAs (Field Level Hazard Assessments), timesheets, pre
- and post-inspections of all tools and equipment, and any other paperwork required.
- Report incidents, near misses, equipment damage, and hazards to Supervisors immediately.
- Positively participate in all toolbox talks and all applicable company/site meetings.
- Groundwork as required.

**Required Qualifications**:

- Must be 18 years of age.
- Valid class 5 driver’s license (with no restrictions) with own transportation.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience with water/sanitary pipelaying.
- Must understand encroachment limitations, distances when working near overhead utilities, and exposing underground utilities.
- Valid CSTS-2020 & WHMIS 2015 certification (can be provided for free through ACSA).
- Valid Ground Disturbance II and Confined Space certifications are considered an asset.
- Ability to use electronic devices (cell phone) and ability to adapt to new technologies and industry changes.

**Working Conditions**:

- Fast-paced work environment with long hours (up to 14 hours/day) with strenuous/manual labour tasks.
- Repetitive bending and lifting (up to 50 pounds).
- Dusty and dirty work environment.
- Various weather conditions including sun exposure/heat, cold weather, snow/frost, and rain.
