At Sinai Health, we care, create possibilities and offer hope. Sinai Health is offering a Human Factors Intern position as part of the department of Risk and Patient Safety.

**Responsibilities**:

- Gains exposure to various clinical groups in hospital units to learn about their functions, priorities, challenges, roles, and responsibilities
- Use a variety of human factors methodologies, such as observations, interviews, surveys, workflow assessments, and risk analysis
- Applies systems design thinking
- Assist in a variety of projects which may include user needs assessments, data collection, analysis and presentations, and will also act as collaborator on existing projects, as assigned
- Work with frontline staff to identify system issues and problem solve collaboratively
- Ensures project compliance with regulatory, statutory, organizational requirements, policies, and procedures
- Completes all assigned projects alongside a peer mentor
- Meets with peer mentor(s) routinely to review project participation and ensure continued appropriate learning
- Other duties as assigned
- Job Requirements- Ethnography, process mapping, task analysis. Understanding of SEIPS 2.0 and thematic analysis an asset.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills; professional and diplomatic with the ability to work with individuals across all levels of the organization
- Good problem solving and critical thinking
- Good teamwork and organization skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook); experience in Microsoft Visio and Adobe Illustrator an asset
- Flexible and self-directed
- Risk identification and management, Root Cause Analysis, Contributing Factor Analysis, iterative design methodologies, usability testing an asset
