The Ontario Association of Architects (OAA) is a self-regulating, not-for-profit organization that is governed by theArchitects Act, a statute of the Government of Ontario. Its principal object is to regulate the practice of architecture.
**Position Summary**:
Reporting to the Registrar, the Regulatory Clerk will provide support to statutory committees, compliance matters, and act enforcement.
**Responsibilities**:
- Support the statutory committees and OAA Council (as required) in meeting their statutory obligations;
- Assist with committee training and orientation regarding OAA policies, protocols, guidelines, positions and relevant legislation;
- Coordinate the hearings for the Discipline Committee and the Registration Committee;
- Coordinate the assessments of the Experience Requirements Committee;
- Support the administration of the Complaints Committee;
- Draft the decisions, orders and reasons, that have been made by the statutory committees;
- Review and analyze records of investigation for completeness for consideration by the statutory committees;
- Draft correspondence and documents, e.g. undertaking/agreements, requests for expert opinions, requests for further information, allegations and particulars of professional misconduct;
- Assist with good character assessments;
- Assist with proposals to amend or update policies and procedures that impact the operations of the statutory committees;
- Draft content/summaries for publication on the OAA’s website;
- Assist in orientation and training for OAA statutory committees;
- Research regulatory matters and matters related to Act modernization;
- Provide administrative support for Act Enforcement;
- Back up the Administrator, Licensing & Registration as needed;
- All other duties assigned.
**Qualifications**:
- Demonstrated ability to draft legal decisions
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate complex administrative processes related to regulatory or legal matters
- Demonstrated ability to follow protocols in high-stakes regulatory or legal matters
- Experience working in a legal or regulatory setting will be considered an asset
- Post-secondary education as a paralegal, law clerk, or related field is strongly preferred
- Professional investigator training will be considered an asset
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent attention to detail, demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, strong organizational skills, and dependability
**Compensation**:
- $80,000-$85,000/year commensurate with experience
