What to expect in the role:_**

**Job overview**
- The Youth Program Coordinator is responsible for the ongoing stewardship and supervision of the ConnecTeen program, along with implementing and executing a comprehensive community engagement strategy for the program. The Coordinator works alongside Distress Centre programs and working groups to identify and address presenting needs and issues facing youth in community. In collaboration with other Distress Centre programs and working groups, strategy, key messages, and community presentations will be designed and delivered to the community. This role includes partnership development with local youth-serving organizations and schools. The goal of this role is to provide care, support, and structure for the ConnecTeen program, while building and maintaining stronger connections with the community, promoting diversity and inclusion, and enhancing the program's impact for youth.

- Successfully recruit, screen, onboard and provide mentorship to youth volunteers.
- Develop, and maintain strong partnerships with community partners.
- Promote ConnecTeen in community including presentations and other events.
- Evaluate and continuously improve community engagement effectiveness.

**Primary Duties**
- This is not an exhaustive list of duties, but meant to give you a sense of what you’ll be doing on a regular basis. Other related duties may be required.

**ConnecTeen** Program Support (30%)**
- Assist in the recruitment, screening, and on-boarding of youth volunteers
- Coordinate youth volunteer related developmental training (ex: bullying, indigenous issues, etc.) and quarterly meetings
- Keep youth volunteers informed of information, processes and strategy related to the operation of Distress Centre

**Community Engagement Strategy Development & Implementation (30%)**- Identify potential community partnerships, including local organizations, schools and community groups.
- Initiate, develop and maintain relationships with these partners and seek opportunities for collaboration.
- Identify potential volunteers interested in community engagement and recruit, screen, and train them to contribute to community engagement efforts.
- In collaboration with the Communications department, develop community presentations, tailoring them to intended audiences (e.g. parents, youth, professionals, etc.
- Promote ConnecTeen services to relevant stakeholders (e.g. youth, teachers, parents, agencies, professionals, etc.) through community presentations, resource fairs, and other applicable events.

**Program Evaluation and Continuous Improvement (25%)**
- Conduct ongoing assessments of the effectiveness of ConnecTeen’s community engagement strategy effectiveness, considering feedback from all stakeholders.
- Analyze data from evaluation tools to identify areas for improvement and implement necessary changes.
- Maintain records of community engagement activities, partnerships and volunteer contributions.
- Prepare regular reports to share process and outcomes with program stakeholders.

**Other (15%)**
- Attend relevant staff meetings and participate in committees and project working groups as assigned.
- Provide program updates and training related to the ConnecTeen program at relevant staff meetings..
- Coordinate and attend community events as needed.
- Provide mentorship support to assigned volunteers.

**Hours of work and conditions**
- General work hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00am - 4:00pm.
- Occasional evening and weekend work is required of this role.
- This role will generally be an on-site position.
- Public speaking will be a requirement of this role.

**_Lines of Communication/Accountability_**
- Reports to the Volunteer and Training Program Manager.
- Works as a member of a team with another Youth Program Coordinator.

What you bring to the role:_**

**Qualifications/Experience**
- Diploma or undergraduate degree in the Human Services (e.g. Social Work, Criminal Justice, Psychology, or another related discipline).
- Experience with supervision of volunteers and/or staff.
- Gender-Based Analysis+ and Brain Story certifications.
- Naloxone Certification
- First Aid and CPR certification

**Skills/Abilities**:

- Intermediate proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint
- Strong public speaking skills will be required.
- Strong interpersonal skills and high emotional intelligence
- Excellent conflict resolution skills
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work collaboratively, set priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
