**Job Purpose**
The Fund Development Manager will play a significant role in ensuring the financial sustainability of Africa Centre. This individual in collaboration with the Executive Director will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to increase revenue through various fundraising channels, building and maintaining relationships with donors, and overseeing the organization's fundraising events and campaigns.
**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Responsible for the overall implementation and actualization of Africa Centre’s Fund Development Strategy (FDS).
Based on experience, implement the recommendations of the FDS matching Africa Centre’s strategic objectives, positionality and the funding ecosystem.
- Identify and pursue new funding opportunities across Canada and internationally, building on Africa Centre’s existing and past donor/partner relationships, while also contributing fresh ideas and actionable items aligned with the organization’s strategic goals.
- Identify and bring in new funding opportunities from across Canada and beyond, based on Africa Centre’s previous and current donors/partners, as well as introduce new ideas on action items related to the strategy.
- Demonstrate competence in managing both technological systems and people-centered processes that support fund development within the organization. Prior experience with donor management platforms such as Keela or Salesforce is considered an asset.
- Collaborate with the Executive Director to help shape and execute the in-progress fund development action plan for donor solicitation (including major gifts) and to increase revenue in alignment with the strategic direction of Africa Centre.
- Identify, cultivate, and solicit philanthropic support from individuals, foundations, and corporations.
- Lead the annual giving program and manage key fundraising campaigns throughout the year, including (but not limited to) Africa Day Gala, All Africa Soccer Tournament, Giving Tuesday, and the Year-End Giving Campaign.
- Prospect research to identify and evaluate potential funders, including corporate giving.
Manage and expand the organization’s donor database; ensure accurate record-keeping and provide regular analysis and reporting on fundraising progress.
- Oversee day-to-day activities, including receiving and responding to inquiries related to fundraising, and maintain the donor database.
**Stakeholder Relationships**
- Developing and maintaining relationships with new and existing funders and donors.
- Collaborate with the community engagement and communications team to promote fundraising initiatives and enhance donor engagement.
- Working closely with the Executive Director and senior management team to develop annual fundraising campaigns and targets.
- Working closely with the Executive Director, Director of Program Development & Accountability, Director of Operations, board, communications manager. manager of community engagement to create an internal culture/system for successful fund development
- Represent AC at fundraising and public awareness events and meets with supporters.
- Foster strong, ongoing relationships with donors through effective communication, acknowledgment, and stewardship strategies.
- Collaborate with other team members and departments to integrate fundraising strategies across the organization.
**Qualifications**
- Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in Business Administration, Communications, Nonprofit Management, or related field.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in fundraising, development, or a related field, with a proven track record of achieving revenue targets.
- Strong understanding of fundraising strategies and donor relations unique to the nonprofit sector.
- Proven grant writing skills, including experience in research, proposal writing, and documentation, with a track record of securing funding from government, foundation, or private sources.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire a wide range of donors and build long-term relationships.
- Proficient in CRM and database software, as well as Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

**Requirements**:
40 hours/week, which may involve some evenings and /or weekends.
Valid driver’s license and access to a private vehicle.
