Reporting to the Vice-President, Finance and Accounting, the Controller will work closely with Riverstone Retirement executive and our various retirement residences to oversee the financial operations of the company. You will be responsible for maintaining financial records, preparing financial statements, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations. You will also be the lead in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
ROLE RESPONSIBLITIES
- Oversee the preparation of financial statements and manager reports.
- Develop and maintain an effective internal control environment with a primary focus on retirement residences.
- Coordinate, prepare, and submit appropriate tax filings and other government reports by the required deadlines.
- Maintain accurate financial records and ensure all transactions are properly documented.
- Assist in the development/implementation of financial policies, procedures, and systems to control, manage and report on the group’s operating costs and capital expenditures program across all retirement residences.
- Be a key leader in the annual operating, capital planning and budgeting processes.
- Assist with Yardi optimization for the business and ensure operational administration is managed effectively.
- Help manage cash flow and working capital requirements.
- Liaise with external auditors and other stakeholders.
- Assist with management and mentorship of the Riverstone Retirement accounting team, as well as relevant individuals at our retirement residences.
- Support the executive team with ad-hoc tasks and projects as required.

- Provide guidance, education and expertise to the Leadership Team in the residences regarding budgets, financials, variance, Yardi utilization, and procurement
- Develop strong working relationships throughout all levels of the organization

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION
- Completed post-secondary accounting degree, diploma and/or certificate.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a senior Finance/Accounting position. Accounting experience in the senior living industry preferred.
- Working towards CPA or being close to designation is preferred.
- Advanced excel skills and familiarity with Yardi preferred.
- Bachelor’s Degree (preferred)

**Experience**:

- Financial Leadership: 5 years (preferred)

**Licence/Certification**:

- Chartered Professional Accountant (preferred)
