**Brief Job Description**

To observe and reinforce positive safety behaviours by engaging employees in conversations about working safely, covering such topics as their perceptions of the risks associated with their jobs, their understanding of safe work methods and requirements, and their input and suggestions about safety issues all to educate, and identify health and safety risks for elimination/mitigation.

**Responsibilities**
- Developing, completing and filing all necessary documentation and/or reports in accordance with applicable reporting and record keeping requirements.
- Completing a compliance calendar for all required activities and reporting obligations for the plant.
- Developing and maintaining all environmental, health, and safety programs for company.
- Identify, participate in and/or lead WorkSafeBC inspection response requirements.
- Participate in setting standards engineering and administrative controls, and personal protective equipment (PPE) and administer training and enforce compliance for all employees.
- Engage with supervisors and Leads to conduct daily safety talks, observe and correct non-compliances, eliminate hazards, and prioritize work area safety and clean-up.
- Identifying and implementing safety training programs for employees and contractors.
- Write and maintain all job hazard analysis SOP’s
- Coordinating industrial hygiene surveys, safety reviews, hazard analysis, accident investigations, and analyzing trends in injury/illness experience and hazards identified at the facility.
- Complete WorkSafeBC reports, compliance audits, etc. within the facility to reduce financial impact.
- Works closely with Human Resources on compliance, and WorkSafeBC recordable injuries and to ensure effective work processes are compliant with current legislative requirements.

- Lost Time, Recordable Incident Rates, WCB Claims costs
- COR/OSSE Certification
- Plant Costs

**Requirements**:

- Post-secondary education in Occupational Health and Safety or related field
- 3 - 7 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment, large facilities, maintenance or construction
- WHMIS certification
- Active Occupational First Aid Level 2 certificate will be required during employment
- Proficient in MS Office
- Strong understanding of Work Safe BC regulations.
- Understanding of Alberta, Saskatchewan Work Safe/OHS regulations an asset
- Great communicator - Verbally and written.
- Strong time management, planning, organizing and prioritization skills.
- Some travel to Richmond, BC Plant and Moose Jaw, SK plant required.
- A can-do, positive attitude.

**Work Environment**
- Daily exposure to typical manufacturing areas will be required and will require the use of personal protective equipment such as steel-toed boots, safety glasses and mandatory hearing protection.
- The work environment will include their own workstation or cubicle space equipped with a telephone, headset and computer as required for the job.
- Will work in varying levels of heat and cold.
- Team member must be mobile enough to navigate the manufacturing shop floor safely including walking and standing for up to four hours at a time

**Salary**: $55,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
