**ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE**

This role reports to Director of Diversity

**SUMMARY**

The Pride Advocacy Group (PAG) Student Assistant will assist the PAG in organizing and communicating about 2SLGBTQIA+ related events, workshops, and campus outreach initiatives.
Pride Advocacy Group Objectives:

- To support and empower 2SLGBTQIA+ students, staff, and faculty at KPU.
- To increase awareness, affirmation and education around sexual and gender diversity issues.
- To challenge patterns of silence around 2SLGBTQIA+ issues, as well as, help create a more visibly welcoming, safer and inclusive campus community for all.
- To increase the visibility of, and contribute to the development of, positive, supportive advocates and spaces for 2SLGBTQIA+ students, staff and faculty at KPU.
- To demonstrate KPU’s commitment to enrich and enliven the diversity of its community, including 2SLGBTQIA+ persons.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Assists in promoting the Pride Advocacy Group and PAG-sponsored events and engaging with students through social media and additional campus communication channels
- Attends and participates in PAG meetings, PAG sponsored events, and campus outreach events.
- Assists PAG members with presentations and note-taking
- Assists the Director of Diversity and other PAG members with tasks such as room bookings, equipment rentals, hospitality requests, and sourcing supplies/swag for events and activities.
- Assists the Director of Diversity and other PAG members with tasks such as volunteer recruitment, collection of feedback forms, and supporting workshop activities

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Successful completion of at least one (1) year at a post-secondary institution or one (1) semester at KPU
- Must be a current KPU Student in good academic standing
- Students with past experience in 2SLGBTQIA+ advocacy work and knowledge of 2SLGBTQIA+ issues preferred
- Must be able to attend Pride Advocacy meetings
- Must be able to present to groups of up to 30 participants
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Experience with social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Hootsuite)
- Creative problem solving and critical thinking skills
- Ability to work efficiently and complete tasks independently
- Ability to work with mínimal supervision independently and with a team
- Experience with research is an asset
- Occasional travel will be required between campuses and to off campus activities/events.
