**Position Summary**
The Project Specialist (intern) provides support to social impact projects in the areas of the future of aging (which includes age-friendly affordable housing development and an array of projects that involve co-design and testing of innovation projects to support older adults to age in place, live with dignity, choice, purpose and empowerment). The Intern will support projects at various stages: planning, execution and ongoing monitoring and evaluation phases of diverse projects. Examples of support include conducting environmental scans, literature review, needs assessments, supporting the development of proposals, development of work plans, implementation, and monitoring. S/he will also support writing of reports, content generation on topics in housing, preparing slides and presenting to various internal and external audiences.
**Responsibilities will be matched with assigned projects (the following are some examples)**:
**Activity A: Planning**
- Research activity - literature review by conducting literature searches, extracting relevant information, interviewing key informants, synthesizing the literature for the purpose of answering specific questions and completing needs assessments
- Proposal writing - participating in the conceptualization of proposals, content development and coordinating the writing of the proposals
- Stakeholder engagement - under the direction of the supervisor, engaging internal and external stakeholders
**Activity B: Implementation**
- Collaborating with stakeholders
- Developing draft work plans
- Coordinating activities involved in implementation of specific projects
- Establishing and managing stakeholder databases, dashboards and profiles
- Managing mass and customized communication tactics with partners and stakeholders
- Identifying implementation successes and challenges
- Supporting the development of solutions to addresses gaps in implementation
**Activity C: Monitoring & Evaluation**
- Coordinating the collection of data to support on-going monitoring and evaluation
- Analyzing the data under the direction of researchers
- Preparing summary reports
**Activity D: Knowledge Transfer**
- Supporting the preparation of project reports, articles and blogs
- Preparing presentation materials for local and global audiences
- Conducting presentations on select components of a project, proposal or results
**REQUIREMENTS**:
- Currently enrolled in a graduate degree program in urban planning, real estate and infrastructure, business, or related studies
- Understanding of the Canadian healthcare and affordable housing system
- Understanding of financing of housing projects such as social impact investment, community bonds, and other such models would be an asset
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must be available for a 3 month or 12-week term
Interest in social impact work and solving large societal problems
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and changing priorities
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build meaningful relationship with internal and external stakeholders
- Self-motivated and directed with the ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a changing environment
- Keen attention to detail
- Ability to conduct research, distill information into succinct insights and actionable recommendations
