Qc Lab Team Lead

**POSITION SCOPE**:
The Quality Control Laboratory Team Lead oversees daily input and output in terms of Laboratory activities by managing priorities, reviewing documentation and providing test results as requested.

**RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES**:

- **Testing**:Supervise Chemistry laboratory personnel for timely testing, analysis, and documentation in compliance with GLPs, GDPs and relevant GMPs by allocating resources and performing testing as required to support production needs
- **Reporting**:Based on batching and filling schedules, build a shift report of released and in-process items including raw materials, water, bulk product and finished goods
- **Investigations**:Report Out Of Specification results and provide direction for further tests helping investigation
- **Shift handover**:Manage transition between shifts ensuring ongoing investigations are carried and priorities up to date
- **Reference standard management**:Based on production schedule, standard expiry date verification, correlation between physical sample and description provided by the Certificate of Analysis. Overview batch frequency and determine if new reference standards should be created
- **Launch product overseeing**:By interacting with Product Development and Incoming Quality Control Teams, anticipate launch product approval for component compliance
- **Laboratory maintenance**:Make sure equipment is calibrated, kept clean and in good working condition. Keep track of laboratory supplies inventory
- **Internal Compliance**:Review on a daily basis lab notebooks and instrument logbooks; sample receipt log books and calibration / maintenance of equipment regularly for adherence to GLPs as well as internal SOPs.
- **Training**:Develop training as an outcome or extension of SOPs; Conduct training to the QC laboratory technician level on applicable GLPs, GMPs and act as a mentor to ensure understanding of SOPs and transfer of knowledge to conduct testing of Raw materials, Water, Bulk and Finished Goods, and other samples as received by the QC laboratory, to approved specifications.
- **Partners**:First point of contact for Batching Team Leads,Hold Tank Technicians, Line Technicians and Line Auditors
- **Supervision**:A) Quality Control laboratory Technicians; B) Quality Control laboratory Chemists; C) Quality Control Laboratory Assistant;
- **Health & Safety**:Ensuring all due diligence requirements and obligations under S.27 of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and all Company Standards, Policies, and Procedures are met; provide support and assistance to the Joint Health & Safety Committee in compliance with the JHSC Terms of Reference HSS.006
- **Other**:Perform other duties as assigned

**JOB SPECIFICATIONS**:
**Knowledge/Education/Experience**:1+ year progressive experience in a pharmaceutical laboratory setting; post-secondary education with Bachelor Degree in Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology; with emphasis on analytical laboratory operations, Microbiology laboratory experience is a definite asset.
