The manager provides leadership to a team within the Indigenous Health department, by supervision of staff, and ongoing program and service development that promotes Indigenous pathways to healing. Key responsibilities include planning, implementing, monitoring, evaluating and reporting progress of specific programs and projects within the Indigenous Health department. Key services lead by the Indigenous Cultural Safety & Education team include development/coordinating Indigenous cultural education, policy/procedure reform, and internal systems review. Playing a critical organization lead role, the manager is responsible for capacity and sustainability development of programs and projects that focus on enhancing safe and culturally sensitive care for clients, and promote a culture of diversity and inclusion by supporting staff, physicians and volunteers to work in the spirit of reconciliation and uphold the rights of Indigenous People. **Qualifications**: **Education/Experience**: - Master's degree preferred in related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience relevant to the position. - Minimum of three years of experience in program coordination, supervisory or leadership role, with a focus working with Indigenous People in the health or social service field. - Minimum five years of experience working in a health care setting. - Leadership experience with the ability to manage complex projects involving multiple departments, agencies, budgets and partners - Knowledge and/or experience of Indigenous health services and service delivery models (i.e. regional, provincial and national policy/funding issues). - Knowledge of the current and changing dynamics of the health care system, related support services, and health equity for Indigenous populations. - Demonstrates knowledge of community resources and community needs, special knowledge of First Nation and urban Indigenous community needs. - Experience developing, implementing and sustaining network/partnerships. - An in-depth understanding of Indigenous culture and traditions, worldview, history, ceremonies, and language. - Ability to speak Anishinaabemowin or Anishininimowin is preferred. **Skills/Abilities**: - Ability to communicate effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing. - Strong decision-making, conflict resolution, mediation and negotiation skills. - Proven ability to establish and maintain co-operative and collaborative relations with private and public officials, co-workers, and other partners. - Strong project/time management, analytical/critical thinking, problem-solving, data analysis and evidence-based decision-making skills. - Ability to work independently, utilizing discretion and sound judgment. - Strong leadership skills, including the ability to motivate and recognize others; proven ability to share skills and knowledge with others. - Proven acumen in business and financial management. - Ability to identify, understand, and meet/exceed the requirements of internal and external partners. - Committed to ongoing professional and personal (including cultural) development. - Must be competent within the meaning of the Occupational Health & Safety Act. **Assets**: - Lean certification - Successful completion of the Fundamentals of OCAP® course - Ongoing involvement with Indigenous culture and traditions, comprehensive knowledge, understanding and awareness of Indigenous traditions, ceremony, teachings, and practices - Strategic planning, project/program management, human resources, financial management, including demonstrated business skills, experience in program/system evaluation, and supporting quality improvement and implementation initiative **CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT** - Must undergo a successful Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check (CRJMC) - Ability to travel to various work locations as required and provide own transportation - May be required to work flexible hours (extended hours, evening/weekend work)**WHY WORK FOR US?** SJCG cares about "Our People", and we know that a welcoming, caring, and supportive environment creates a positive work place that ensures employees are able to provide the best possible care to our clients.
