Nickerson Roberts Holinski & Mercer is seeking a full-time legal assistant/paralegal to join our team in a key role supporting a lawyer with a general practice with an emphasis on civil litigation, corporate and commercial law, wills, estates, and other areas of law as required.

- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, and Excel);
- Experience with Esi-Law software, GSINQ software, King’s Bench Filling Digital Service, Court of King’s Bench Civil Search Portal, Surrogate Online Filing Service, and/or Surrogate Forms will be assets.

Responsibilities will include:

- General practice management and administrative duties, including correspondence, courthouse filing, scheduling, and opening and closing files;
- Regular contact with clients to handle new client intakes, collect and relay information and updates, follow up, etc.;
- Organization of files and client materials, including sending, receiving, and tracking pleadings and other documents;
- Tracking court dates and limitation dates, and managing a diarization system;
- Preparing and drafting legal documents, including pleadings and agreements;
- Preparing client accounts; and
- Assisting with general office duties and coverage of other support positions (including reception) as the need arises.

Education and Qualifications:

- Related post-secondary training (for example, legal assistant or office administration) or degree with background in English, law and justice, or similar areas;
- At least 2 years of legal assistant experience is required. Salary will be competitive and determined based on level of experience.
- A covering letter which indicates your current employment status, your salary expectations, and your availability for an interview;
- A resume which outlines how your skills, qualifications, and experience will meet the requirements of the position; and
- At least 2 references available, with contact information to be provided upon request during the interview process.
