**Position Overview**:
This role requires the successful applicant to work with all departments to ensure the success of our golf programs, with a focus on golf memberships, packages, green fees, junior programs, and tournaments. The key responsibility will be to manage all facets of golf operations.
Essential Job Functions:
**Sales**:
- Take the lead in suggesting, developing, implementing, and executing new sales methods and strategies for golf memberships, subscriptions, green fees, golf tournaments, and member events.
- Plans, purchases, organizes, and merchandises the Golf Shop apparel and hard goods program.
- Responsible for suggesting, developing, implementing, and executing golf software management programs, focused around driving incremental revenue growth.
- Manages and promotes the company customer loyalty program, SMGolf Rewards.
**Planning & Execution**:
- Manages the planning and execution of golf programs, including (but not limited to): memberships, men’s and ladies’ leagues, golf tournaments, golf simulator, and member events.
- Manages the planning and execution of junior golf camps, the junior golf league and any other junior programs.
- Organizes and executes weekly meetings pertaining to golf tournaments and other golf events with the Head Superintendent, Food & Beverage Operations Manager, and Special Events Operations Manager.
- Executes the sale and fulfillment of golf related goods and services in the Golf Shop.
**Control**:
- Monitors annual budget, revenue goals and expenses for operations, with a focus on managing labour and Golf Shop inventory.
- Maintains and administers sound organizational plans pertaining to golf operations and initiates improvements.
- Monitors the cleaning and organizing of the Golf Shop and surrounding areas.
- Assists with clubhouse food & beverage operations.
**Personnel & Training**:
- Responsible for hiring, training, planning, assigning, and directing work, evaluating performance, rewarding and disciplining associates; addressing complaints and resolving problems related to golf operations.
- Greets all customers, whether in person or by phone, and provides them with prompt and courteous service or assistance, to fulfill green fees and Golf Shop sales.
- Effectively manages the golf operations team in achieving the highest standard of customer satisfaction.
- Follows and maintains ongoing training programs and necessary operational checklists.
- Ensures the entire golf operations team are aware of their responsibilities in respect of health and safety in the workplace and have the minimum qualifications and training to work in a bar environment.
- Actively recognize good performance in the team and promote the company reward and recognition scheme.
**Additional Job Functions**:
- Assist with set up of tables, chairs, patio sets, and other applicable items for golf tournaments and other special events.
- Actively seek out customer comment and feedback in respect of the service.
- Maintain a neat, well-groomed personal appearance at all times and observe company dress code.
**Working Relations**:
- To develop a working relationship within the company that will attain and maintain a high level of employee morale.
- To provide adequate advice and counsel to all operating departments that will aid them in achieving their goals.
- To maintain a close liaison among all department heads.
- Attend team meetings as required and contribute to the development and growth of the business.
- To conduct him / herself in such a manner to encourage fellow employees to follow, thus enhancing the status of the position and that of the company.
- To follow the basic company philosophy of management and policies to all present employees and the newly hired personnel.
**Local Laws & Regulations**:
- To have complete knowledge of local labour laws and contracts.
- To have complete knowledge and understanding of local alcohol and gaming laws.
- To have complete knowledge and understanding of the world handicap system.
**Requirements**:
- Post-secondary education from a recognized business management, golf, or hospitality school, or five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 3 years in a management position.
- Minimum of 3 years in the sports industry.
- Smart Serve certification required.
- Valid driver’s license.
Skills/Abilities:
- Proven track record of team management, organizational and coaching skills.
- Comprehensive knowledge of expense control as it relates to payroll and the forecasting and budgeting of expenses.
- Experience with booking software, inventory/point of sale systems, Microsoft Office, and Google office.
