This is a full-time salary position working 35 hours a week. The position will oversee the day-to-day operations, staff assignments and direction for the Aspen and Willow House program in Surrey with SHSS to ensure that the outcomes of the program are met. The Residence Coordinator provides planning, coordination, administration and support.
This position is required to work in a stressful environment often dealing with youth in crisis, brought about by family problems. The ability to function independently and frequently under pressure, including managing emergencies. On-call evening, holiday and weekend work may be required
The Coordinator is required:
- To be familiar with and adhere to the procedures and policies of the agency.
- To deliver the program services and outcomes in accordance with the government contract, standards, acts, regulations and licensing requirements.
- To set an example for others through personal behavior which is respectful of others and which models professional ethics.
- To work towards a common vision and uphold the mission statement and philosophy of the agency
Qualifications:
Diploma in a related human/social service field.
3 years relevant related experience, including 1 year supervisory or administrative experience (or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience).
Specific training in behavioral modification, attachment-based parenting, harm reduction, cultural safety, first aid, crisis intervention and relationship-based interventions (Trauma-informed practice).
Specific program, legislative/policy, provincial and other government frameworks and systems, labor relations or professional knowledge may be required depending on individual agency requirements.
**Requirements**:
- Screened-in clearance through consolidated Criminal Record with MCFD Hub in order to work with vulnerable children and families.
- First Aid Certification with CPR training.
- Covid Vaccination.
- Class 5 Driver’s license.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Oversees the day-to-day operations of a Care Setting, provides ongoing supervision of service provider, personnel and sub-contractors, and evaluates program policies.
2. Develops, implements and evaluates Care Setting goals, objectives, policies and procedures, and ensures the required standards are maintained. Identifies both physical and program needs of the Care Setting to appropriate authority(ies). Plans with service personnel and sub-contractors for changes.
3. Schedules, supervises and evaluates service provider personnel and sub-contractors, and monitors daily operations. Assists in recruiting and selecting of service provider personnel and sub-contractors and provides guidance, training, and orientation on policies, procedures, techniques, report preparation or other matters arising in the Care Setting. Identifies the needs of service provider personnel and sub-contractors for professional development.
4. Assists management in preparing the annual operating budget and monitors, authorizes and allocates expenditures within the budget. Prepares and maintains related documentation.
5. Ensures the cleanliness, safety, security and maintenance of the Care Setting in accordance with applicable licensing standards either directly or through delegation to service provider personnel and sub-contractors.
6. Maintains the Care Setting inventory of supplies.
7. Works as a Residential Child and Youth Worker or Awake Residential Night Worker performing the duties as required; appropriately delivering or enables strategies established in children’s and youth’s SHSS service plan.
8. Liaises with the community, government, families, officials, and professionals and promotes community involvement in the program and participates and coordinates the Care Circle.
9. Upload documentation to MCFD BCeID Portal.
10. Evaluates the performance of staff and identifies staff development needs.
11. Acts or designates staff health and safety representative.
12. Performs other related duties as required by the Program or Program Director.
Benefits Package for all positions include:
Vacation Benefits - All permanent staff receive paid vacations with an annual maximum of 126 hours for full time employees and a pro-rated maximum for part time employees. (I.e. 32 hours’/week employees accrue a maximum of 115 hours).
Sick Benefits - All permanent staff receive paid sick leave with an annual maximum of 105 hours (8.75 hours per month) for full time employees and a pro-rated maximum for part time employees. (I.e. 32 hours’/week employees accrue a maximum of 96 hours).
The Medical, Dental & Extended Health Care benefits will commence after the successful completion of a 3-month probationary period.
The Pension Plan Benefit will commence upon the completion of one year of permanent employment. Contributions to the pension plan consist of 4% salary provided by staff and matched by 10% of the staff’s salary provided by the employer.
